Criminal Justice (As Taught By A Criminal) - Period 3 - Monday 01/14

Why yes, yes Deadpool was sitting on the desk again today. But there were other things on the desk. Like a camera and a lot of paper. And ink.

Weird, no?

"Morning kids! Today we're learning about something very fun. Booking procedure. Or, ya know, the fun bits of it to me at least. Who wants to learn about lots and lots of paperwork, after all? Bo~oring!"

Hopping off the desk, he started to pace in front of the class.

"First up today is the mugshot. Or, as I like to call it, the best way to make or break a career in Hollywood by looking like a homeless heroin addict!" Deadpool shook his head sadly. "No one wants to end up lookin' like Nick Nolte or Hugh Grant, so I suggest practicing your look before they actually toss you in to get that picture taken. It'll be like modeling! With police! And crimes!"

Really.

Just like it.

"And second! Fingerprints. Which is just code for letting you kids run wild and free with paper and ink. Because no one really cares about learning about whirls and all stuff. You just want to get straight to the finding your classmates' finger prints so you can see if they're stealing food from the common rooms. Isn't that right? For shame, common room food stealer. Just go to Turtle&Canary and buy your own."

"Last of all!" He bounced on his heels, looking at the class. "Haley Joel, English Petey... Welcome to being my TAs. I expect you to rule with an iron fist."

"I'm Coraline," Coraline said, looking at the ink and paper with something approaching glee. "Do you want to do this together?"

"Sure!" she said cheerfully. "I'm Meg."

"It's nice to meet you." She smiled and picked up an ink pad. "I've always wanted to have my fingerprints taken, without having to go to jail. That part never sounded like much fun at all."

"Me too! I'm not surprised that Mister Deadpool is the one who'd be giving me the opportunity to do this," she said, shaking her head. "Do you want to get inked first?"

"Oh yes, if you don't mind. Do you want to take them like they do on the crime shows on television? I promise to cooperate." Coraline set the ink pad down and held out her hand. "Mister Deadpool is the most interesting teacher I've ever had," she said, sounding very pleased about it. "Or ever heard of."

"I like him, even if he is a little unorthodox," Meg said, taking Coraline's hand. She started to take her prints and, being Meg, tried to make as little mess as possible. "Apparently I'm one of his minions, but I still haven't figured out what that entails."

"Minion? Really?" Coraline was watching what Meg was doing with interest, fascinated by the swirls on the paper, but she looked up at that.

"The only minions I've ever met were horrible." Given what they were minions to, that wasn't really surprising. "How did you become a minion?"

"I had good things to say about Bea Arthur on the first day of class last semester. Mister Deadpool has a crush on her," Meg said, smiling. "And trust me, I'm anything but horrible."

"Are you sure?" Coraline asked, eyes bright and clearly teasing. "That's just what you'd say if you were horrible and wanted to lull me into a false sense of security."

She resisted the urge to wiggle her fingers, not wanting to ruin her prints, but the ink made her fingers feel itchy. Or maybe that was just having to hold them still.

"I leave the evildoing to my doppelganger over there," Meg said, tilting her head towards Jo. She finished taking Coraline's prints and lifted up the paper for her to see.

Coraline wiggled her fingers in the air and grinned at her prints. "I hope Lucas doesn't mind me putting those on the wall," she said, then looked over at Jo.

And then looked again. "Are you related?"

Meg shook her head. "Nope. We just look alike. My boyfriend has got a twin that isn't related to him either. It's just Fandom weirdness."

"It really is," she said, still looking at Jo. With an effort, she drew her attention away. "I'm glad I don't have one."

Coraline wiped her inky hands on a spare piece of paper, making interesting swirls and squiggles. "Your turn now?"

[work is kicking my butt, sorry for the slowness]

"Sure," she said, holding out her hands. She hoped this stuff came off easy.

Coraline took Meg's hand and started carefully taking her fingerprints, trying not to share any extra ink from her own fingers. "Do you think she's your exact double?" she asked, looking up at Meg. "Right down to the fingerprints?"

Re: Taking Prints

[identity profile] goodgirlmeg.livejournal.com 2008-01-15 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
"I was wondering that. I don't know for sure. We do have some, um, size differences," she said, pointedly not looking at her chest. "But I think that's because I'm a few years older than her and she's not fully, um, developed."

Re: Taking Prints

Coraline glanced at Jo again and voiced an, "Oh," of understanding. "But fingerprints don't develop." And there were only supposed to be one set of each kind in the whole world, everyone knew that. But, she thought, what if everyone were wrong? "You could find out if you really were each other's exact doubles if you compared them."
