Driver's Ed [Wednesday, Period Four]

As the students came into the Dangershop, they would have seen that it was set up much like any other class room, barring the Bentley at the front of the class Bond was nonchalantly leaning against, wearing one of his better suits. Anyone suspecting he had been using it to test out the Dangershop before the students had come in would have been on the right track.

"My name is James Bond," he said, after the last students had arrived, not offering up any further information about himself. "And I will be taking you for Driver's Education this semester. Within school hours, you may call me Professor Bond, or Sir, outside of school hours...well, we'll see about that."

"First things first, I'd like to ask to take one of each of the three handouts at the front of the class, there's a syllabus, the class roster, and a list of the rules I expect you to follow while you're in my classroom. The syllabus may or may not be subject to change, but I trust that I will not have to alter the other two documents."

After pausing to allow that message to sink in, and for the students to collect the handouts, Bond continued. "Secondly, given it's our first lesson, I would prefer to know something about all of you before I put you behind the wheel of a car, simulation or no. So I would like you all to tell me your names, a bit about yourselves, why you chose to take this class, and what experience or knowledge of cars and driving, if any, you already possess."

"Oh, and if Miss Tarkheena could stay behind after class. I have some things I'd rather like to discuss with her."

"I'm Lee Adama," Lee said, nodding at the room, "and I'm a junior. I chose to take this class because this planet doesn't have Vipers and cars are supposed to be the main mode of transportation. I figured I should, at least, know what one looks like if I'm gonna be here."

"Hi! I'm Amber Atkins. I'm from Mount Rose, Minnesota and I don't know the first thing about drivin'. I just usually walk everywhere I need to go so this class should be very beneficial."

"I'm Shawn, home for me is Seattle. I'm mostly taking this class mostly because I love driving when I'm back home, and can't here. That, and because I figure, however good I am, learning more is always awesome."

"Peter Petrelli," Peter said. "I'm from New York. Usually I'm in the city so it's easier to take a train or bus. But I'd still like to learn for when I'd need it."

"I'm Jenny Sparks, and I'm a freshman. I'm from London, England, originally, though I've lived all over and home is currently a shiftship in the Bleed, and I can sodding well drive just not at all well. I'm here because my 'legal guardian' thinks he's funny. And something about insurance."

"Still, Miss Sparks, a refresher course might come in handy," Bond replied. "You never know what's around the next bend." Like tied-up women you crashed rather spectacularly trying to avoid. "And I think you might look forward to the second half of the semester rather more than the first."

"I'm Aravis," she said, frowning already. "Sophomore. I've never driven a car. I'm extremely experienced with horses, however, but we don't have this sort of technology back home. So I'd like to learn to drive, long as I'm here. Seems useful."

"I'm Jamie Madrox. I'm a virgo who likes reading a good book, dinners by candlelight and long walks on the beach. I'm taking this course because it sounds like fun."

"Thank you for your thoughtful answers, Mr Madrox. I shall endeavour to make the experience as fun as possible." Bond immediately made a mental note to program the simulator so Jamie's car was rigged to explode at least once over the semester, he thought he'd rather enjoy it.

"I'm Turtle Wexler," --emphasis? What emphasis? That's totally always been her name-- "and I'm a sophomore, and I'm going to be a lawyer and I co-own the Turtle & Canary store in town. I'm taking this class because I'll be sixteen in March!"

She figured that, with the bouncing that was included with it, was explanatory enough.

"Hi, I'm Summer and I'm from Newport Beach, California," Summer said. "I'd like to learn to be a better driver, so I figured this class would be helpful."

"I'm Sam Winchester, and I'm a sophomore," he said. "My family lived all over the country before we settled down here, and we tend to drive everywhere and take lots of long road trips. I know the basics of how to drive, but I figured some solid experience would be really helpful."

"I'm Dōjima, and I've got my learner's permit, but I'm pretty sure it's only valid in Japan. I'll be eighteen this year, and I want to learn the American laws so that I can ride my scooter here!"

"The name's Jack Burton, and I'm here so I can get my license and start learing for the CDL so I can be a trucker," he said, glancing at the Bentley. It really is a nice car.

"I'm Dawn Summers," she told him cheerfully, "and I'm a senior. I'm here because I've already driven once and probably should get a license before I do it again. Also, there may be a genetic predisposition in my family towards bad driving, but that may also be just a vicious and evil rumor. I'd like to find out which."

"Hi!" Sulley may have been psyched about new classes. "I'm James Sullivan, but everyone calls me Sulley. I'm a sophomore and I like sports and the usual stuff. My Dad gave me a few driving lessons before, but that was a while ago, so I'm here to learn how to drive without crashing."
