Library [Sunday, January 6]

After a week off, Lee's back in the library and propped up lazily behind the desk. He wasn't going so far as to put his feet up on the desk but he was doing some lounging and leaning and occasionally spinning in the chair. There were books to be checked in and shelved but he had all day to do that.

"No problem," Lee said and shrugged. "We're from the same galaxy so you weren't too far off. Are you a new teacher? I don't remember seeing you before."

"New librarian, actually," He replied, offering Lee a friendly smile.

"Oh." And Lee made it obvious that he'd been lounging by sitting up straighter as soon as he heard that. "Welcome to the library, sir. No one told me you were here."

Lee knew there wasn't some secret librarian aide cabal but still, no one told him.

He shook his head, taking a slightly more at ease posture to assure Lee that it was not an issue. "I only arrived Friday. I am meeting all my aides during their days this week to let them know."

"Oh," Lee said again, familiar with the at ease posture (something the Old Man was good for) and relaxing a little himself. "I'm Lee. Lee Adama, the aide on Sunday. I've been here a few months myself. Still not completely used to the place."

"Lee." He looked out at the rows and then down at the letter left for him. "To be quite frank, I think we may very well be in that same boat on that."

"Finding it weird?" Lee asked. "Or just overwhelming?"

"Different," He decided after a moments pause. "Though I did come here for that."

"Different is a good word to use," Lee agreed with a nod of his head. "Are you...from this planet?"

Which was such a weird question to ask but he wasn't and he knew others weren't so he asked anyway.

He blinked at the question, wondering if it was so visible on his face. Would have to correct that.

"No. Earth-That-Was has not been inhabited for some time where I am from."

"I don't know where that is," Lee said, frowning. "I'm not from this planet either. Reason I asked."

"This--" He waved one hand around them toward the room. "--if I am correct is Earth-That-Was. Where I am from, there are many planets that are inhabited."

"This is my first time near any Earth that was, is, or ever will be," Lee told him. "I'm from a place called Caprica. Galaxy of the Twelve Colonies."

"Mine as well." He smiled, picking up his cup of tea. "I apologize, would you like some?"

"What is it?" Lee asked, peering at the cup. "Coffee? Hot chocolate? Something else I haven't had yet?"

"Tea. Earl Grey if the package is to be believed."

"No thanks," Lee said, shaking his head. "Maybe next time. I'm not really a tea drinker."

"I will keep some in the office should you care for some next Sunday," He said, smiling slightly. "Well. Mr. Adama. Is there anything you can tell me about this place someone not from the planet should be aware of?"

"The people here really like shirtlessness," Lee said because that was important to tell the new librarian. "Um. Hm. It's colder here than I'm used to. Lots of downtime! Another thing I'm not used to."

There wasn't much more of a reaction to the shirtless comment more than a surprised blink that was gone almost too quickly to notice.

"Military, are you?"

"Going to be," he said with a nod. "I was in the academy back home, about to head off to flight school when I got tossed here."

Of course. The boy was too young for it, really.

"A pilot, hmm? What do you fly?"

"Vipers," he said, grinning. "And Raptors but they're slow. Vipers mostly."

Not particularly knowledgeable of the types he was referring to, but certainly aware of how they made him react, He chuckled. "A fighter pilot."

"Yep," Lee said, perking up at the topic of conversation. "You fly?"
