Makoto noticed a girl all in white and, feeling more confident in pretending to be a girl, approached her with a smile. "I like your dress," he said, "it's very striking."

Naminé flushed. "Thank you," she said. "It isn't much, I'm afraid, but I'm fond of the color. Or lack thereof. Are you a new student?"

"It's quite expressive in its simplicity," Makoto said, "it'd work well on a stage and yes, I'm new. Are you as well?"

She flushed again, darker this time. "I always imagined I looked dreadfully boring," she admitted. "Valentine's more the dramatic showman-type. Although I do confess I love the shoes that don't match."

She paused to show her light-blue sandals.

"And no, I've been here since last May. Welcome. My name is Naminé."

"And I'm Makoto," he said with a grin at the shoes, "I want to be an actress, so I've trained myself to notice such things. Should I keep an eye out for this Valentine, then?"

Naminé laughed, at that. "He'll be hard to miss. He has a mask covering this much of his face, with a large purple stripe down the center, and he's a juggler. Last time he took a friend out and convinced her to juggle burning sticks. No casualties except his sleeve. Have you acted in many plays, then?"

"That will make it easy to tell him apart," he agreed, smiling, "Which is nice since I'd recognize very few people right now."

He frowned slightly, but not at Naminé, "Just school productions," he said, "my father disagrees with my ambition and that makes it difficult to do more." Which was an understatement really.
