"Liir," Carmela repeats. "Never heard that one before. Where are you from? I'm, uh. From Long Island. It's in New York, here on Earth."

There was a pause.

"Where is New York in relation to Kansas?"

Because the representative he'd met from Kansas hadn't been particularly impressive.

Carmela does *not* look at all intrigued by that revelation. Really. Except for how meeting people not-from-Earth has never really lost its appeal for her so she totally does.

"Well, if you're not from Earth I'm not sure how much you know about our geography, but Kansas and New York are both parts of this country we're in now. Kansas is pretty much in the middle, and New York is in the northeast, close to where we are here."

He winced.

"All right. I don't know much of anything other than that there's a Kansas and somewhere else is an ocean where someone's parents drowned because oceans are giant lakes. I don't know much about anything, really."

"We're pretty close to the ocean, actually," Carmela informs him. "This *is* an island and all. As for the not knowing anything, well. That's what school's *for*, ne? So you can learn stuff!"

He blinked.

"An island?"

They don't have those in Oz, what with it being surrounded by the Deadly Deserts.

His fingers itched to his broom to take a look, but he couldn't take that back if anyone saw him.
