"My name?" John asked, momentarily confused. "I'm John. Sheppard, if I recall, Johns are interchangeable."

"At least I shouldn't forget it," she shrugged. "I'm Brooke. Good to meet you, Interchangeable John."

"Wait, Brooke?" John raised an eyebrow. "Not Jaina?"

"That is what I said, yeah," she said, confused.

"Great John, just great," he muttered quietly to himself, finally buying a clue.

"Right, so this isn't the conversation I thought it was," he said.

"What conversation did you think it was?" she asked, not sure what conversation they were having now.

"I mistook you for someone else," he explained, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. "And she's going to be thrilled to meet you."

"Oh," she said, getting it suddenly. "Her."

"So you're already best friends right?" he couldn't help teasing, it was his natural state.

"Yeah, you can tell Little Miss Yellsalot that if she wants to have a sane conversation, go find somebody else because I'm noy interested," she said, folding her arms.

"I'll be sure to do that," John said, smiling because he his imagined version of their encounter was too funny.

"Let's try this again," he held out his hand. "I'm John, you're Brooke, and I'm not hitting on you."

"Yes, yes, and got that," she said. Dammit. But at lease her mini-me scored a hot one. "Sorry about that."

"No, really, it's my fault," he assured her, feeling guilty. "So, how are you liking Fandom so far?"

"Can't complain too much yet, but I've only been here for, oh, an hour?" Not that she was going to complain about the guys. At all. On that count, she was almost regretting the fight she'd put up about coming here. "You been here long?"

"At least you've gotten some weirdness out of the way," he smiled. "I've only been here since summer. It's pretty great, classes aside."

"Classes bad, or is that a general 'ew, school' thing?" she wondered.

"Mostly 'ew, homework,'" he said. "Though, if you're lucky, you signed up for classes without any of that."

She looked a little happier at that. "There are classes with no homework? Not that I would have done it anyway, but might as well not fail for it."

"No way to fail when it's not part of your grade," John agreed happily. "Please tell me you're taking Ethics." Sometimes, John was just evil.

"Who needs Ethics," she said, which pretty much summed up her way of life.

"Good point," John replied, disappointed. "The class was mostly about the greys of life anyway. What are you taking?"

"French, and that... cool class or whatever," she said. "I figured it was an easy A. What do you have?"

"I think I'm in some government class and justice, along with French," he said. "So you'll have to put up with me on a weekly basis."
