New kid day! Awesome! A.J. plopped down on a picnic table, cracked open a soda, and waited for the entertainment to begin.

Spotting A.J., Anemone went and flopped down next to him, munching contently on her cookie. "Mmmm...fresh meat...I mean new kids...is it weird that I still feel new? I mean, we've been here through two rounds of new kids, so I shouldn't, but I do."

"Yes," A.J. stated, hiding his grin in a sip of soda. "It's weird. You're a total spaz because you still feel new. Don't talk to me; I don't want the new kids getting the impression that I hang out with weird kids."

And he really, really, really hoped she knew he was just teasing, but he gave her a playful nudge to emphasize the point.

Anemone made a face and stuck her tongue out at him. "Whatever. They all think the pink hair is awesome. Maybe hanging out with me will raise your coolness factor a little."

A.J. laughed a little, shaking his head. "Impossible. My coolness factor, clearly, is already at maximum capacity."

"Then together we'll just have to raise the maximum coolness of the entire island. No one can stand against us!" she laughed, waving a cookie in the air. "Or something like that, don't ask me, I've probably had too much sugar already."

A.J. chuckled at the cuteness that was Anemone waving her cookie, and nudged her a little bit again. "No such thing as too much sugar unless you're curled over a toilet and I'm holding back your hair."

[identity profile] death-of-hope.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, that's too much drinking, which is something I need to do more of anyway. Drinking, or going out, not making friends with the toilet." Anemone nudged back and grinned. "Aw, you'd hold back my hair for me? You're the sweetest."

"I know, I know," A.J. said, shrugging with a loftily modest look on his face. "But, really, it would be just an excuse to play with it. I don't get to play with long, pretty pink hair enough."

Which, of course, promptly lead to A.J. fluffing out Anemone's hair a little.

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] death-of-hope.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Anemone made a little purring sound at the fluffing and preened at him.

"Really, no one does, which is a shame. Pink hair is totally the best, although yours isn't half bad either," she said, flicking her fingers out to bat at his hair. "Points for style, not many people could pull off the look."

Re: General Mingling

And the purring was just way, way too cute. So the fluffing continued. "Why, thank you, m'dear," he commented loftily, giving his head a little shake to send his shaggy hair all over his face. He blew a puff of air to disturb them, get them out of his eyes, but it didn't work. "I rather like it, too. Don't think I'll do green again, but definitely agree with your point on the style."

"I could always turn your hair pink," she teased, still purring. "You wouldn't be my first attempt! Although I think you'd look neat with some dark blue streaks."

"Not that your hair isn't naturally cute, just providing other options."

"I think," A.J. said, smiling broadly with a light chuckle. And still playing with Anemone's hair. There was just so much of it; it was luxurious, "I'm done with playing with color for a bit, but, should I ever feel brown is too boring, you'll be the first I come to."

Anemone hadn't cut her hair in years, not since she'd been taken from the Novak Foundation labs and given to Dewey. She was proud of the fact that it was almost to her waist, and was practically ecstatic at the attention A.J. was giving it.

"It's not like your hair is just plain boring blah brown," she said, reaching over to play with it again. "There's other colors mixed in, it's like lots of browns. I think it's pretty. And floppy, which makes it fun."

"I'm glad you approve of my pretty, floppy hair," A.J. announced, giving Anemone's hair a particularly fluffy fluffing, and chuckled. "I could seriously just play with this hair all day. It's too bad I don't really know how to braid. I could do some twisting and stuff that I've done with some of my work, but I don't know if it you'd ever be able to get it out."

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] death-of-hope.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"It would take you a few years to grow yours out this long, so I guess you'll just have to keep playing with mine."

"Wait, are you serious? You would make my hair into art? Awesome!" She bounced a bit and grinned. "Seriously, that would be cool, as long as it wasn't forever or something."

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] by137.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yup," A.J. agreed, "just have to keep playing with yours. But don't get too excited. Like I said, I probably wouldn't know what I'm doing and end up messing it up. It's too nice to mess up."

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] death-of-hope.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"Aw!" Anemone tried giving him giant puppy eyes, but the effect was probably ruined by her giggling. "I suppose I appreciate that you don't want to ruin it. I'd be upset if we had to shave my head or something because you got barbed wire tangled in it."

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] by137.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"How about this?" A.J. offered. "I'll do some looking into it and some practicing of a few things, and then, when I'm pretty sure I won't ruin it, I'll give your hair a shot?"
