Oh look, there are tables and chairs over here too. Enjoy the food!

[WAIT FOR THE OCD PLEASE. OCD IS UP. This is the FIRST post for general mingling. Please use this post first, if your browser can handle the comment load. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are here and there is more room for mingling here.]

Isabel took his hand and resisted the urge to curtsy, although she did incline her head in a semi-formal manner. "Isabel Evans, from Roswell. It's a pleasure to meet you."

"Ah, the desert," Romeo replied. My home was near the ocean. Greetings, Isabel. Has this town been your home for long?"

"The ocean has it's charms," she smiled. "I spend a lot of time on the beach here when it's warmer. As for Fandom? I've been been for two years now. I'll graduate in May."

[Bit of a RL crisis happening, so I'm liable to be slowish for a bit till it gets resolved.]

"I am pleased to hear there's a beach here!" Romeo said joyfully. "I shall be in school for this year and half of the next, I believe."

"Then I'm sure I'll see you there on the first warm day," Isabel told him. "Ah, so you're a Junior then?" She wasn't certain if half the next meant half of 2009 or half of the school year.

"I believe that is what my father chose," Romeo said. "I was mostly tutored at home."

"Oh? Then this is going to definitely be different for you. Fandom's pretty unique," she said. To brain break or not to brain break? "It's a lot of fun though. There's some really nice people here."

"I have met at least one of them," Romeo agreed, widening his eyes to indicate he meant her. "How is this place more unique than any other?"

Isabel smiled, aware of what he meant. She was dating someone, it didn't mean she couldn't flirt just a little. "I'm glad I can do my part to make you feel welcome."

"Fandom's a special place. Things are possible here that would be impossible in other places. Magic for one."

"And I thank you for that."

With the lord all things were possible, Romeo knew that, but he thought -- hoped -- the girl meant something more than bread into flesh, wine into blood. "What sort of magic? Are there witches here?"

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"There are witches," she nodded. "And a very good friend of mine is a wizard. There are mutants, a furry blue monster, people from other times, other planets. Like I said, it's a unique place."

"Ah," Romeo said, nodding agreeably. Clearly this girl was insane, and he had been taught it was best to overlook such ... eccentricities. "I have not dealt with such at home. Do all here get along, though?" Because he was going back home, and to hell with his father, if he had landed in the middle of more fighting.

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh absolutely," Isabel said. "They frown on fighting. It's a good way to wind up in detention. And honestly? I have better ways of spending my Saturdays."

She had a feeling he didn't believe her about the more unique aspects of Fandom, so Isabel shrugged and held out a hand towards one of the nearby tables with cookies. A moment later two cookies came floating over into her hand. "Cookie?" she offered, holding one out to him. "They're chocolate chip and usually pretty tasty."

Romeo blinked once, twice, 500 times. He could still see the cookies floating toward her, and that unsettled him a little.

But not entirely. He was pleased, at least, to realize she wasn't insane. "So you are a witch, then," he said, accepting a cookie. "And the blue monster, is he about?"

"Not quite," Isabel replied. "But it really doesn't matter now. I'm just Isabel. And I've got a few fun party tricks."

She looked around but didn't see Sulley anywhere. "He's not around at the moment, but I'm sure he'll turn up at some point. He's nice. Like a big teddy bear."

"That at least is good," Romeo said, still a little surprised by what counted as "party tricks" here. "There are so many here, I think I will go and try to meet a few more new friends. Farewell, Isabel."
