Communication, Period 5, Thurs 20 Dec

"Good afternoon." Mohinder was standing behind his desk, with a sheaf of papers that he handed out one to each of the students.

"I hope you're enjoying your finals," A smile and not a hint of sarcasm. Really. "And that you are all feeling well prepared."

"We're going to start with improvisation. I would like you to state your topic of choice and talk, for as long as possible, on that topic without hesitating or repeating yourself."

"Then there are a few written questions," Mohinder gestured at the papers he'd distributed. "And you are free to leave."

OCD waiting is up.

Sam got up and babbled talked about the origins of Christmas, particularly from the pagan side. He managed to make it about two minutes before he ran out of things to say.

Jeff talked about breasts. A lot.

His new courage had been instilled by Thursday Next, and it was never going to leave. Ever.

...

It involved him chanting the word a lot.

John's a pretty hesitant talker, so he probably lasted about 60 seconds before he paused in his discussion of really awesome flying maneuvers.

Cassandra wasn't really much of a talker, but there were a few subjects she could talk about at length. She began a discussion she'd memorized a few years prior: Basic Tenets of the 127 Major Styles of Human Combat. Beginning alphabetically it usually took about seven hours to work all the way through Yaw-yan.

Cedric managed to rattle off about four minutes of talk about spells and magic and various potions before he stumbled to a stop when talking about divinity. It was just such a boring subject.

Anemone got up and did a repeat of her talk about the physics behind lifting and LFO flight, only this time she managed to contrast it to the sport of surfing. Since she can talk about lifting and LFO combat for hours, it was probably a good six or seven minutes before she had to stop for air.

Carmela's talk was about how annoying little brothers could be. Especially when they did things like insisting on activating the safety in your shiny new weapon thingie. Or ran off to other planets without you. Or... she finally hesitated when she had to admit that okay, sometimes they weren't all bad. It was because of her own brother that she'd finally been able to get offplanet herself, after all.

Jack talked for a solid five minutes about trucks, the trucking industries, how trucking affects peoples' lives, and only kinda stopped when he got all dreamy-eyed discussing the different makes and models of semis.

Hoshi gave a talk about how to make homemade soba noodles from scratch, just the way her grandmother taught her.

Inara spoke eloquently and without giggling for approximately seven minutes on the first topic that came to mind--which happened to be the Kama Sutra.

A terrified Naminé stood in front of the room and spoke somewhat inaudibly about color theory for nearly 30 seconds before hesitating, flushing, and sitting down again.

Rodney lectured for a good ten minutes on the often overlooked fourth state of matter: plasma.

Chris took the test and, despite not having slept much the last few days, was pretty sure he got a high B or a low A.

Summer took the test and did fairly well. Probably a low A.

Meg took the test and surprisingly didn't let the events of yesterday distract her too much. She got an A.

1. Easy. I'd convince the gun it would be *awfully* funny if it didn't work whenever they tried to shoot me. If my brother hadn't already done that, of course.

2. Carmela writes up an elaborate dance routine conveying the deliciousness of Valrhona dark chocolate.

3. Carmela lists off the three factors she feels most important... and then goes off into a diatribe about certain commercials that don't bother with ANY of those.

4. It's about as good a conversationalist as a rock. I should know, I've talked to rocks before. They're not the best at picking up subtle cues, you know?

All in all? Probably an A.
