Rikku really, really hoped that screeching wasn't their instructor, stuck in some kind of weird machina. Because she was trying to get closer to the noise, cutting a wide path around in the hopes of missing Sokka's spray of bullets.

One poor, unfortunate Zergling gurgled a single last screeching noise as it shot backwards, bleeding, under the force of bullets. Another joined it, and a third.

The fourth, on the other hand, was going around and diving straight at Rikku, talons first.

Rikku jumped back, pulling her left arm up in front of her to block. Her right extended her own gun, took a half-second to aim, and squeezed the trigger.

With a scream, the creature crashed down to the ground in a shower of... well. The kind of things you'd find inside a creature.

The jungle fell eerily silent again.

Sokka held up a hand for a high-five.

"MAN, I needed to kill things today."

Rikku high-fived him, making a face. "Ewwwww, that's gross. How come you needed to kill stuff? Bad day?"
