"I am not," Jean-Paul began his lecture this Friday, "despite what some of my former students and contemporaries would have you believe, an evil man. But you should, nonetheless, be at least introduced to precalculus during your high school career, to better prepare you for college. Realistically, you should have a full semester of it, but as that is not workable, you get...one day." He winced a little on their behalf. "I've assembled a packet for you to work with. Choose one of the topics contained within that you are not familiar with already to learn more about."

Adah idly flipped through the packet, because she could understand more of that than she could listening to the lecture. And the fact that she actually could understand it, could read some of it, would probably put her in a good mood for the rest of the day.
