Library [7.12.07]

Karal was slightly subdued as he opened the library. Thursday was still in the clinic, but he was feeling a bit easier about it after last night's visit. Altra was still sleeping, though he'd woken long enough to wolf down several tins of salmon, so he wasn't overly worried.

After setting everything up for the day, he settled behind the desk, methodically processing returns.

Oooo...people in the office. Anemone peeked in, grinning at those whom had already arrived.

[Lo, we are the SP club.]

A few minutes, and Mac joined the group in Thursdays office. It was almost starting to get crowded.

Sam got Thursday's voicemail, and came right by, figuring he'd come at the right time when he saw everyone else.

"Thank you all for coming," Thursday said, remaining seated. "I haven't had a chance to go back to the BookWorld since our brief tour of it, but Commander Bradshaw did send word that things are returning to normal. He asked me to pass on thanks from the Council of Genres who have decided to award you with medals for your service to the BookWorld." She gestured to the seven black velvet boxes on her desk. "One for each of you and one for Altra. He also asked me to pass on a more personal thank you from Jurisfiction. There was a staff meeting and a vote was held in my absence. I've been authorised to offer you all the opportunity to train as probationary Jurisfiction agents. You proved yourselves more than capable. The offer is open-ended and is contingent on you finding a way to read yourself into Norland Park in Sense and Sensibility any time after Chapter 5." She paused. "I appreciate you all coming with me."

Sam broke into a grin at the sight of the boxes, and at the thought of the offer. "Are you feeling okay?" he asked, eying where Thursday had been shot.

"A little tired, but otherwise on the mend. I'll be fine," she assured them. She sounded tired. "Thank you all for coming by. I know there are more interesting things to do on a Friday afternoon. Don't forget your medals." The medals were round and looked a lot like this (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/stargaterpg/fandomhigh/medal.jpg). The metal appeared to be silver, but at a certain angle the surface shined gold. The outside was circled by intricate engravings of pages and words entwined. The inner circle had an open book. On the back was engraved writing in block letters. 'Awarded to [name] in gratitude for outstanding service to the BookWorld in the face of perilous danger.'

"I'm going back to the house after this and I live with a doctor," she replied.

"Oh wow," Bridge breathes, opening his own box and studying the medal inside. He reaches out and gently traces over the design with the fingers of one hand. "This is- thank you," he says, referring to both the medal and the potential job offer.
