Interdisciplinary Studies or Whatever, Friday, Period 1

When the class arrived, Squall wasn't in the room.

The sign-in clipboard was laying on his desk. On the chalkboard was written "TODAY'S TOPIC: APPROPRIATE THINGS TO DO WHEN UNSUPERVISED".

On each desk was a sheet of paper listing appropriate classroom behavior, including things like "arrive on time", "don't leave until dismissed by the instructor", "no chewing gum", "no hats", etc.

Cassandra Cain does not use clipboards for writing, only for hitting people.

Carmela Rodriguez uses shoes for hitting people. Or sometimes curling irons, or at least things that *look* like curling irons. Clipboards are for signing in, though.

Ronan Nolan, who uses neither clipboards nor curling irons (or things that look like them) for hitting people. Clipboards, after all, are for signing in (and other paper work), which he does, and curling irons are of little use to him in general.

Johnny Blaze, who's never used curling irons for hitting people (not enough hair), although shoes and TV remotes work very well. Clipboards are for keeping track of where you are on a schedule, and maybe signing in. Maybe.

Jenny Sparks, who will use anything close to hand for hitting people if the situation calls for it, including curling irons, clipboards, shoes, and TV remotes. Mostly, though, she prefers to let other people (who know twenty-two ways to kill a man with a clipboard) do the hitting. She does the frying.

Yamanaka Ino, who would rather watch other people do the frying and do most of the hitting herself. It's just more fun that way, right? Also, clipboards make awesome weapons. So do shoes, TV remotes, and hair elastics. But really? Anything goes.

Ronan was doodling in the written form of the Speech, plotting out just how to make his way through the different worlds to visit Parker this weekend -- and how to leave the way open, so he could make sure of getting back.

Jenny kicked up her feet on the desk, lit a fresh cigarette, and started texting every world leader she had in her phone's memory about last night's episode of House Hunters, and how she found the cancellation of Emeril Live to be a travesty.

Jenny was kind of a mean person.

"Wait, wait," said the TA when she realized what was going on here. "Does that mean I'm in charge now? Bow, minions!"

She wouldn't be terribly surprised if everyone ignored her, actually.

"What if we don't want to?" Ino couldn't help but ask.

"Then I applaud your independent spirit, while at the same time wishing you'd just bloody do as you're told," Jenny said. Unfortunately, she couldn't just beat them, and as a TA she didn't think she had detention priviliges, so she had no way to enforce her coup.

"Damn," said Jenny when she saw him. "My reign is over practically before it began."

"I wasn't sure what to do," Jenny admitted. "I've never led a coup before. Well, no, that's a lie. I've never installed myself as head of the coup before. I thought it was traditional."
