Fandom's Next Top Runway Model [Monday, Period Five]

Ares wasn't really paying attention to his students today, instead focusing on the program playing on the television at the front of the class.

"Take notes, there'll be a quiz later," he said, barely acknowledging them with a wave of his hand.

On the plus side, at least he was too distracted to suggest the students try to model what was on the screen.

"Far as I know," Peter said.

"Very, very useful. I'll keep you in mind the next time I have to break into a secret FBI lab." She was mostly kidding.

"That'll be a new one," Peter said. "Count me in."

"Not quite as much fun as it sounds like," Isabel told him with a wry smile. "But I will keep that offer in mind."

"What're friends for?"

"Around here? Back up on felonies apparently."

"S'okay. I know a good lawyer."

"He'd spring you," Isabel grinned. "I'd serve hard time."

"Nah, Nathan likes you," Peter said. "Don't worry about it."

Isabel had her doubts, but she wasn't going to argue. "If you say so. Which is good, because prison orange really isn't my color."

"Could always change it."

"There's this little thing about keeping a low profile," she pointed out. "Standing out as a bright patch of red in a sea of orange? Probably not a good idea."

"This is where just getting out of jail in the first place would be a good thing."

"True enough," Isabel nodded, before growing more serious. "Have you thought about it though? About protecting yourself? I'm taking a guess here, but I'm thinking people with powers aren't exactly common where you're from?"

Peter thought about Claire, and about how skittish Claude had been. "Not enough," he admitted. "I need to do more. Figure out how to keep the people I care about safe."

"First way to do that? Is to keep a low profile." She shook her head, remembering how everything got so crazy when Max saved Liz. "Trust me, I speak from experience here."

"I think these days I can keep my profile pretty low," Peter said.

"In theory, yes," Isabel agreed. "But all you need to do is raise the suspicions of the wrong person and you could wind up in some serious trouble. So just be careful okay?"

"Okay," Peter said. But really he was thinking about folks like Claire, and Nathan.

Isabel had a feeling Peter was going to join Max on the very short list of people that made her facepalm at their self-sacrificing nature on a regular basis.

"Can you at least try and make me believe that?"

Peter gave her the ol' puppy eyes.

Unable to help herself, Isabel sighed. Maybe a leash?

"I reserve the right to say I told you so."

"Noted for the record," Peter said.

"I want that notarized," she smiled.
