Art 101, Period 4, Class 11 (Monday 11-26)

There was a box with a sign that said 'Cameras here' on Steve's desk today, and a large table with all sorts of art supplies: paint, ink clay, stones, glue, glitter, feathers, magazines to cut photos from, among other moddable things.

"So mixed media," Steve began, "is kind of like collage, only not, in that collage can be included in mixed media. There's a handout at each of your work stations that will explain more. Your assignment for today is to begin a mixed media project, as you are by now familiar with all the media you might need to complete one. This room will be open over the next few weeks for you to continue working on your projects. Your completed project will be evaluated as part of your final grade--and before you 'freak out,' remember I will be grading effort, not talent." Steve paused for a long moment, then broke out in a broad grin. "You'll find some other literature at your work stations, as well. Next week, we'll be going on a field trip to the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. We won't be able to stay there more than a few hours because I might be identified, so I've provided you with some brochures and maps of the gallery to let you start thinking about how to spend your time there. Meet me at the parking lot by the causeway next Monday at the beginning of the lunch period. Are there any questions?"

Naminé laughed again. "It's a good thing. You have an enormous heart, you know. I never doubted ... that things would turn out right again. Because you'd make it work out, damn the consequences and all of that."

Sora rubbed his neck and smiled. "My friends are important, but I mean I didn't really damn the consequences... did I?" He blinked, to him that wasn't really a good thing.

Naminé considered that for a long moment. "I suppose ... not in the way it sounds. I don't think you'd hurt anyone else, for one, or at least, not anyone innocent. But I think no matter what it cost to you, you'd make sure your friends were all right."

She hesitated only a moment before adding, "There are some ... that I can't say that for. Who think that ... if their goal is to do good, it doesn't matter whether they do good, to get there. And maybe that's the only thing that matters."

He nodded slightly, in understanding. "Yeah... I met someone like that, the real Ansem. He said something about hurting people to make things right."

Naminé bit her lip. "DiZ, as well. He was so angry. I ... I think maybe they're wrong. If you hurt people, you haven't made anything right. I don't think it ... can work like that."
