Library: Late Thursday Night

Karal didn't think of it as keeping the library open late. He thought of it as opening it early for tomorrow.

Either way, he wasn't leaving.

The tables were littered with a bizarre combination of the magic and the absolutely mundane. Texts on spells and magic mixed with old records, minutes of town meetings, planning permits, building codes, sewerage and water maps, all the boring minutiae that held the history of a town.

There was also coffee and strong, black tea, to keep tired minds and bodies awake and alert.

[ooc: For our late night researchers only, thanks! Wee OCD is coming up.]

Willow was there, pouring over town meeting minutes.... and rewriting them into a better, more organized format.

Scarily enough she was enjoying herself.

Peter had been reading town records all day. When Cable left, he took over some of that pile.

Words were starting to lose their meaning.

Willow beamed. "Thank you! I'm surprised that no one at those meetings ever thought of color coding."

"Hiya," Rikku said, bouncing in. "Sorry I wasn't here earlier, I had to go to work."

Hey, people might have wanted to meditate.

She set down the books she'd handwavily taken along with her and pulled up a seat. "Anything?"

Ed was still going through the pile of reports Cable left to him. And still trying to not think about why he hadn't argued when Cable had told him to read them.

It would be nice to find anything that WASN'T an anomaly at this point.

Rodney returned to his seat with a fresh cup of coffee. He was currently looking through records about the island itself, but he wasn't exactly sanguine about their usefulness.

"Magical ... residue." Rikku blinked. "Okay. I didn't follow that? But if it means I should be doing something different, tell me, and I'll look for that instead."

"Apparently dog zoning is what we in the modern parlance would call 'siriz bizniz'," Willow said. She flipped through some of her notes. "You would not believe some of the implied naughty language that came up during the debates on the issue. Which, one must admit, in a town with reporter squirrels, does make a kind of sense."

Ed looked up and started laughing. "I don't know. Some people could get sick if they looked at too much pink." He threw the last report he look at away from him. "That tall guy wanted anomalies. There's nothing BUT anomalies in these."

"Other than the fact that this island has been a breeding ground for insanity since the dawn of time?" Rodney snarked and then seemed to deflate a little. "No, I haven't seen anything that looks related to this sort of plague," he said with disgust.
