There was a pox upon the house of Fandom; a pox, a plague, an epidemic. Nurse's onset abates, noses run. Clearly, the source of it was something viral, and the toes on Adah's good foot curled, her fingers tingled, with the chance to find out something more. Bad enough she couldn't haunt the corners of the makeshift hospital in the town hall, gathering qualitative research from the ~~victims~~ afflicted while visions of petri dishes and a chance to get near a microscope danced in her head...may her left side be stricken as useless as her right should she allow herself to be constricted behind a desk when there was research to be done. A curse upon her, a pox, a plague, an epidemic. But not until she found something out first.

There was a sign on the desk, instructing anyone that truly needed assistance with anything to interrupt her at a station set up for researching, with the threat of awful, terrible things that would put the virus' work to shame if the interruption was deemed unworthy. It was getting books, people. How hard could it be? And hell hath no fury like an obsessive virologist scorned.

Noting Willow's computer, Adah gave it a nod. "What kind of resources have you got on that thing?"

She still hadn't quite bothered with computer yet, but she wasn't about to limit her venues.

"I've made my own wiki of spells and other researchy goodness," Willow said. "Unfortunately it's not as good as being able to get to the net as a whole, but hopefully I can use my computer-fu to turn whatever's blocking us into my bitch."

Adah wasn't sure if it was her head clouded from research, but she wasn't sure she understood a lot of that. "What do you mean, blocking us?"

"Something's keeping us from accessing any form of the net that's outside the island," Willow said. She turned her computer screen so Adah could see the 404 errors Willow was getting. "It's some kind of barrier, so I'm trying to see if I can break it."

Adah blinked, her eyes quickly darting from one side of the screen to the other as she read what was only cryptic gibberish to her, but she was starting to feel like she getting the important part. "A barrier," she said, slowly, to allow Willow to tell her if she was interpreting incorrectly, "preventing you from accessing potentially helpful information...?"

"Hole in one," Willow confirmed, giving her a smile. "That's why I figured I could try to channel my helpfulness into a barrier-breaking capacity."

Adah sucked in a breath. "If you do manage it," Adah said, "make sure you pay close attention to how. Little bastard is infiltrating even our technology."

"No kidding!" Willow said. "Which is so rude of it I could spit. Except not really because that's kind of gross and also it spreads germs and other forms of badness and ultimately that would be more helpful to it than us."

Adah shook her head slightly, not sure if she was feeling like they were all doomed or feeling like she was absolutely in love. Exactly how many boundaries had this thing crossed so far? Biological, supernatural, technological...probably psychological as well, although that was harder to glean. The key was to find what else there could be to cross, and get there before it.

She frowned thoughtfully. "Any symptoms on your side of things?" she asked. The other girl seemed to be doing fairly well, especially comparatively to what Adah'd seen yesterday.

"So far no," Willow said. She held up crossed fingers for good luck. "I've been drinking my OJ and eating chicken soup like it's going out of style. Not that I know when eating chicken soup was in style. Like was there a chicken soup fad and anyone with a love of minestrone was shunned for being uncool?"

Adah just blinked at Willow. She...really had nothing to say to that, but her head did tilt slightly. It was a morbid sort of fascination, really, that pulled her head.

"I just don't think people should be mocked for occasionally wanting to enjoy a kidney bean," Willow said. "In spite of what their name is."
