"I hope you've enjoyed the last two classes," Lulu said, a mildly devious sparkle lighting her eyes. "However, we're going to depart just mildly from our main topic to discuss something less related to sex and more related to relationships. Today, we discuss what you do when you're in a relationship with more than one other person. In this world, at least, this is called 'polyamory'." She wrote the word on the board. "Obviously, for many of us, this wouldn't be considered the... default for relationships, although I imagine that, with all the possibilities out there, there are some worlds where it is.

"Polyamory is an umbrella term for a number of non-binary ways of looking at relationships. It involves plural relationships, where more than two people are sharing their lives together, as well as various forms of open relationships, in which two people are committed to each other but also share committment -- or even just sex -- with other people, whether a small group of 'friends with benefits' or the option to simply go and find other sexual partners as they will. There are many other permutations and combinations possible, as you can see in this packet thanks Wiki.

"Your activity today is to get together in groups of two or three, at which point you will simulate..." Lulu hesitated for just a moment there, but certainly long enough to let imaginations run wild as to just what was to be simulated. "... a verbal fight in a polyamorous relationship. Consider the possible struggles: one partner wishes an open relationship while the other does not; three partners are struggling over an imbalance in a triad relationship. I wish you to roleplay out these encounters to get an idea of how, in fact, these relationships are not so different from traditional monogamous relationships.

"I don't prefer anyone to anyone!" Anemone rolled her eyes in annoyance, waving at the free seat with one hand. "You knew about this from the beginning, don't start complaining now."

He's trying hard not to picture that, for he must concentrate on the class, not the ooooshinymentalpicture.

"Well you never showed interest in joining the party before!" Anemone sighed and tried to change tracks, pouting at River. "All you had to do was say something. I thought you didn't want to join us."

"But take him, if you want." She leaned back in her chair, trying to look bored. "You can spend next week with him. Or me. Or all of us. Lady's choice."

River tried not to pay attention to any thoughts emanating from inside that bag. "I don't go barging in where I'm not invited. You could have asked." She paused, frowning. This felt very theoretical. "And considering I was ignored I think I deserve some special attention. Not the bored, whatever kind."

"So... do you want to spend this week with me? With Anemone?" Jack asked, making sure he so wasn't in hitting distance, the bag turning from girl to girl as his head swiveled.

"Well, can I start with dinner, and we'll see what you come up with from there? I feel bad, River, I do, but I'm not a tally sheet, I won't spend all my time making sure everyone is even. If you feel neglected, you need to say something. Jack asked me to spend the week, so I did. If you want something, just ask me. I'm not going to say no." Anemone reached over to swat at Jack's arm. "Say something productive!"

"I'm not just a piece of meat here!" he insisted, glancing at the both of them. "And you have no right to just offer me off to River without consulting me."

"Dinner is a good start," River replied to Anemone, then she turned to Jack, frowning. "You don't like me?" That wasn't his point of course, and she knew it, but for the sake of the argument she decided to overlook that.

"That's not what I mean!" Anemone flailed at Jack slightly. "I'm just saying she can spend time with you if she wants to, she shouldn't feel like she has to be invited!"

"You're going to make my headache worse, both of you," she whimpered.

"I have some aspirin in my room," Jack said helpfully to Anemone.

"And I do like you, I just... feel like a third wheel sometimes, when you two are off alone. And it feels like I can't do anything with the one of you without excluding the other!"

Oh, man, how did he get involved in this? If not for the bag, his face would resemble a tomato with eyes.

"You're jealous!" River accused Jack. If this was to be a good argument they had to make an effort. "Everytime Anemone and I are on our own you're being jealous."

"I already took half a bottle, but thanks." she smiled at him briefly, absently rubbing her wrist. "When my head gets like this, nothing helps."

Anemone threw her hands up in mock indignation. "I am not a mind-reader, Jack, River. The doctors failed to add human telepathy to my genetic cocktail of talents. Unless you spontaneously become a Coralian, I can't hear what you're thinking. How am I supposed to know if one of you feels like a third wheel?"

"So it's okay for him to be jealous of you, but not you to be feel jealous of him? I'm so lost..."

"Well, of course I'm jealous! You're hot!" Jack exclaimed, gesticulating at the two. "And I want you both to myself all the time!" He turned to River. "And you're jealous of the time we spend," he said, indicating himself and the pink-haired girl.

"So you're not jealous, River, you just want fair. Got it." Anemone pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed. "Jack, please don't tell River what she thinks, it isn't nice. Just because you're jealous doesn't mean she is, apparently. Although I'm glad you feel comfortable telling me you're jealous. Or something."

"I'm still trying to figure out how all this works," he said honestly. He refrained from headbagging. "So what now? I...offer myself to River for a week to balance it out? We do more things as a couple? Er, triple. Um. What's the terminology for a threeple?"

"How should I know? It's not like I do this on a regular basis. Maybe we should have a board game night or something after I finish groveling spend some more time with River?"

Anemone winced and put her head down on the desk. "See? This is why I keep my boyfriends separate. So much easier. Head hurts."

"Wait. Boyfriends? Multiple boyfriends? Are you cheating on us?!" Jack said with a mock flail.

Her head on the desk concerned him. "Do you want to go to the clinic? I could help. We could help," he said, including River.

"Something nice we can all do without fighting over kissing or beds or anything. We can take sleeping bags and camp out in the Common Room."

"Real boyfriends, not pretendy boyfriends." She said, head still on the desk. "NO! I mean, um, no doctors, don't need that. Thanks anyway."

"Actually, that sounds like fun. Um. Board games and sleeping bags tonight?" He looked at Anemone and River who was strangely quiet for some reason.

"Wait. You're cheating on us, your fake boyfriend and girlfriend, with a real boyfriend?" He looked confused. Under the bag. "I don't know if I'm supposed to be mad or not. Um. Any help?"
