Library; Wednesday [ 11/07 ]

Adah came in a bit early so that she had plenty of time to limp around the library to choose her choice reading materials for the day. By the time things were set for the day, she had set aside an eclectic pile of medical journals and comic books, as well as a carefully balanced tower waiting to be sorted, although perhaps she'd leave that. She felt that the way some of the books jutted out and it curved and threatened to wobble over like trees too tall in the wind, creaking, moaning, dizzying to look up at.

"Mmmm," he said, watching her hand get closer and touched his finger to hers, a light brushing action that made him smile. "You don't make me miserable. You make me happy."

"I like having the privilege," Adah added, "of making you happy; I have to admit, I'd feel pretty sore about it if I had to stop."

"No need to stop," he said, moving his hand until he could clasp hers and bring it up so he could kiss her knuckles. "I'm not going to leave, I promise."

Adah's smile grew a little more; to think, she didn't even need to launch into her rhetoric regarding the puritanical and patriarchal. And, really, she couldn't have asked for a better response. Got a little worrisome at the beginning, but, if she wasn't mistaken, it almost seemed as thought he was worried that she...

She smiled, and leaned forward a little, closing her eyes as she surrendered her hand to the feeling of light kisses against her knuckles. "Good."

"You'll have to come see the stars again with me sometime," Lee said and pressed her knuckles to his cheek. "I need to read to you again too."

Adah shifted her hand enough to free her thumb so that she could lightly brush it against the cheek they were getting to know so well. There was a little bit to marvel at this time No hypersensitive nervous system on him, and he still enjoyed something simple like this from her... "I never did get to count the stars as intended," she pointed out.

"There were distractions," he said, closing his eyes and leaning a little more into her hand. "Good ones."

"You know," Adah teased lightly, "I'm usually much better at staying focused on a task, but you have an impressive knack for distraction."

"You're not the first person to tell me that," he said and smiled. "Possibly the first person to tell me that and mean it in a good way though."

"I didn't say it was a good thing," Adah made the attempt to lightly argue, but a small laugh that she couldn't help sort of thwarted her intentions a bit.

"Yes, you did," he teased back. "I could see it in your eyes. Your eyes said it was a very good thing. And also that you like my modeling. Your eyes are talkative today."

"They sound like liars, too," Adah offered with a grin. "You can't trust them. That modeling bit sounds very suspect."

"You don't trust your own eyes?" Lee asked, trying to sound shocked. "But they're so nice and pretty. I trust them."

"Nature gives the deadliest snakes the prettiest colors, you know," Adah warned him simply with a smile and a lift of her chin, watching as her thumb dragged slowly along his his cheekbone.

"Despite knowing that now," he said, sighing quietly, "I still trust your eyes more than I trust just about anything else."

Another thing the Eel had an interesting knack for: just as much as he gave Adah a voice, apparently, he could take it right away and leave her without a clue of what she could possibly say. But her grin, bitten back, and, yes, those eyes, said enough in terms of her appreciation of the comment. She leaned forward a little more; if she were capable, she would have kissed him for that.

Lee could help her with that and as soon as he saw her leaning, he leaned closer too, coming close but not touching just yet.

Grinning softly at the last remaining distance, Adah closed her eyes lightly and pushed that extra bit forward to close it.

He'd been expecting it but that didn't stop the sigh or the smile from emerging.

Keeping a hold of her hand with his, he used the other to brush a finger across her cheek and down her neck, keeping the kiss soft and lazy.

With a light trailing like that, it was impossible to keep the kiss from suddenly becoming more grin than anything else as Adah's shoulder crept up a little in response to the light touch. She drew away for the slightest breath before returning, gratefully. He really was just terribly good at this...

The pull away didn't even last long enough for him to frown dramatically before she was back and that was good. So much better than not being there and he pressed a little closer, ignoring the counter digging into his ribs.

If it wasn't for the fact that she'd managed to get things done last period, Adah would really start to wonder why they didn't just fire her from this position for never, ever really getting any work done. It was a minor observation, though, at at all a complaint, as she couldn't think of a better way to be a waste of time than kissing the Eel. She tempted with the idea of saying something, breaking away to give a quip or something so that he didn't just get bored with her lazy, slightly unbalanced work, but that would mean stopping, pulling away for more than just a quick breath, which meant that Adah firmly decided it wasn't worth it.

"I'm coming around the desk next time," Lee said, during the brief moment he had to pull away to catch a breath. Not that he lost their connection entirely, though. He used the fingers of one hand, slid them down cheek to stroke across her neck and down her shoulder.
