Friday Language Classes

Dream is in a classroom, calmly tossing an apple from one hand to the other.

Most of the time it is an apple, at least; if it sometimes looks like a heart and other times like a grenade ... well, it must be a trick of the light.

If you've spent a lot of time with him before, you may notice something slightly different about him today. He isn't an entirely different aspect ... but neither is he entirely the same. He seems slightly dazed, and it might be prudent to remind him of any commitments he has made for the near future.

Hello.

We have Classics, Indo-European and Languages of Asia today, as well as my regular office hours.

I am here if anyone should need my help. Otherwise, please converse among yourselves, paying special attention to the vocabulary sheets on your desks.

Also, I suspect my class rosters may have fallen into disorder. Let me know if you know them to be in error; I will purge any students who have not shown up to at least one class by next Friday.

And he goes back to tossing his apple.

Sonia finds her seat, then pulls out her notebook and begins to study her Hebrew vocabulary.

Sam slides into a desk next to Janet, pulling out her laptop and clutching a very large cup of coffee carefully. She yawns and waves sleepily to Janet, putting her head down on the keyboard until class begins. They'd really been up way too late plotting talking the night before.

Jack finds a seat next to Carter and grabs it.

She smiles weakly, then yawns and takes a large swig of coffee. "Yesterday? Not particularly. It's good to see you again, C...Jack."

"Yeah, I heard about the zombies. From what I hear from Janet, I'm even luckier that I missed the cleanup afterwards," she said, grinning.

She looked him over, to see for herself that he was still in one piece. "Good. Yeah...um...you look good as usual ." Sam straightened in her chair, determined to find a way to communicate with this man that didn't involve near death experiences or blowing things up.

Huh. Maybe she was at the wrong school for that.

"Yeah, so...I saw my dad's grave and found out that Janet's new hobby of annoying Mackenzie is paying off nicely, then I came back here and am helping Janet remove any remaining ambiguities about her relationship with Daniel not to mention his sexuality . Oh, T...Murray says Hello. Well, actually, he raised his eyebrow and said 'indeed' a lot, but I knew what he meant."

Oh good, the awkwardness had been replaced by uncontrollable babbling. This wasn't progress.

"I didn't get to say it before you left but I was sorry to hear about your dad, he was a good guy. Danny seems to be driving her nuts, mixed signals all the way." Jack laughs a little at the "indeed" comment. "It's not the same without Murray around, it... makes this all a little more real y'know?"

She sniffles a little because she has allergies, not because she's mourning her father . "Yeah, he liked....he toler...he thought you were a good guy and was mostly happy you were my commanding officer except for the part where it meant we had seven years of UST ."

She takes another large gulp of coffee, savoring the taste. "Yeah, I know what you mean--if this were some ordinary Friday, Daniel and Murray would be clones in teenage bodies, too, and we'd figure our way out of this. Without them...we're really here and doing this. We're living our lives over again."

Rogue walks into class, a large cup of iced tea, as per ususal, in her hand. She walks up to Dream, and hands him a typed letter on Charles Xavier's personal stationary. "I'm sorry for my absences this week. Here is the excuse I promised you."

An odd shaggy figure, blinking rather vaguely, pokes his head into the classroom. "Ivanova is not coming to classes. Zathras say she is needed, so she go with Zathras, then tell Zathras "Tell teachers two weeks". Two weeks, two weeks, time, time. Zathras never understand time. But Zathras go, and now Zathras tell teacher."

Zathras abruptly turns and shambles off.

Thomasina makes it class on time, slips into her seat and begins to study hebrew, since the leaning a third alphabet thing has been giving her a bit of trouble.
