Library [Saturday]

Mac hurried into the library a little late to open up, bringing with her her own pile of text books, and no coffee.

She's obviously not having the most organised morning.

She's behind the front desk, immersed in a UML textbook. Fun.

It was a good thing her roommate was more organized than she was.

Well... comparatively speaking.

Either way, Peter was there with coffee.

Mac glanced up when she heard him come in.

Yep, there was a roommate with coffee. "You don't happen to be up for sharing this morning, do you?"

"No way," Peter said as he came over to the counter. "Both of these cups are for me."

"Coffee hog," Mac told him teasingly.

"Problem is that I am really tired," Peter replied, deadpan.

"It's a saturday," Mac pointed out helpfully. "Which means technically, you could just go back to bed.

She pointed at herself, then gestured at the library. "I can't."

"Someone really needs to take a stand against the slavery this school forces students into," Peter said. "Aren't there laws against it?"

"It goes on my college applications," Mac told him. "It's worth being a slave on my weekends for a couple of years."

"See, this would be why Nathan likes you." Peter handed over one of the cups of coffee. "Keep this up and he might ask your family if they'd like to swap."

Mac took the coffee, bringing it up to her face to sniff it. "If I agreed to that trade, you'd probably stop brining me the good coffee," she said.

"And I wouldn't be so mean as to make you put up with my brother."

"Your brother not as cool as Nathan is?" Peter asked.

"He's 12 and a little brat," Mac replied with a smirk.

She then happily sipped at her coffee, and sighed. "Best roomie," she added. "Thank you."

"I'll have you know I was never a brat to Nathan when I was twelve," Peter said. "And you're welcome."

"So, the way you two wind each other up... totally a new thing," Mac said with a grin. "Or did you just pick it up once you became a teenager?"

"It's my job as a little brother to make sure he doesn't get too full of himself," Peter said. "It's a good deed on my part, really."

"And, the teasing, really is pretty amusing to watch," Mac added as she sipped at her drink.

"We've been doing it since forever," Peter said. "I call him a jackass, he calls me a self-righteous prick - cycle of brotherly life goes on."

"Sounds kinda like our household," Mac said after a moment. "Except ours exchanges mostly involve Ryan trying to shoot me with some kind of toy weapon, and me telling him that they'll never find the body."

"Thanks to some of the classes here, you'll know plenty of ways to do that too," Peter said.

"Also, the fact I've seen lot of TV shows on forensics helps," Mac deadpanned.

"I everyone's family makes them want to smack their head against a wall every once in a while."

"Par for the course," Peter agreed. "Unlike roommates who everyone knows are perfect."

"Well, obviously," Mac said holding up her coffee.

"Clearly this is why the Danger Room thought you and I were going to have a kid," Peter said.

Mac lowered her drink a little, and arched an eyebrow. "The danger room thought what?" she asked.

"That we would have a kid," Peter repeated. He quirked an eyebrow at her. "Is there something you need to tell me?"

She managed to remember to pick up an apple and some sort of veganised snack, at least.

Library is open if you're an aide or the librarian.

She's now dusting shelves, and trying to keep herself busy until she can close up.

Sorry, it's a little late.

Wow, has this week been enough to send my brain to mush.
