Newspaper Staff Meeting, 4pm FHT, Journalism Room

Coffee, pastries, NEWS. A familiar combination. Peter was at the front of the room with a copy of last week's paper to hide behind if certain teachers came by.

"Yes, I would, actually," Peter said, ignoring the last word. "Thanks for the offer."

"I wasn't offering," Anakin said icily. "I was specifically not inviting you along. You can take the bus."

"Wow, that's not nice. And all this over a picture in the paper?" Peter asked. "What would Rory say?"

Yes, he would totally tattle to the girlfriend.

"You'd tattle on me?" Anakin went back to glaring. He felt it really worked for him. "Seriously."

"I really don't want to take the bus," Peter admitted.

"I'd make sure you were sitting next to the chatty fat guy with the hygiene issues, too," Anakin said, not really making a case for not being tattled on.

"All the more reason to blackmail you for a ride," Peter pointed out.

"I suppose you could fit in the trunk," Anakin mused.

Most people would be joking. Anakin wasn't most people.

"Yeah, I would. But I'll take shotgun," Peter said. "I have Aeryn on speed dial, too. I can and will tattle to anyone who could make a difference."

"Aeryn'd take my side on this and wonder why I hadn't shot you already. Rory would be more concerned that the men and women wouldn't be even at the front of the altar or something," Anakin retorted.

"Want to test that theory?" Peter asked, pulling out his cell phone.

Anakin didn't look at all nervous. Really. "If you ruin Rory's birthday by making her unhappy with this, I'm going to be upset."

"I was talking about calling Aeryn because you and I both know that Rory's going to find the picture in the paper funny and think you're overreacting," Peter said.

Peter was fairly certain that Rory would find the picture in the paper thing funny and think he's overreacting. Honestly, he didn't want to risk it either, especially not on her birthday.

But he knew he could win Aeryn over.

Anakin was equally sure of his own position. "Go ahead and call Aeryn then," he decided. "But it's entirely your own fault if you ride to Vegas strapped to the top of a car."

But he didn't dial Aeryn's number. Instead, he called someone who held the ultimate trump card.

John, who was sitting at home doing nothing, picked up on the second ring.

"Hello?"

"Hey, it's Peter. I have Anakin here. Can I put you on speaker so you can settle an argument for us?" Peter asked.

"Hey, my other favorite Peter!" And that sounded weird. "Not dirty. Sure!"

"Oops. I misdialed," Peter blatantly lied. "So, John, you remember that picture I sent you a couple days ago?"

"You're welcome," Peter said. "I printed it in the paper and now Anakin's threatening to make me take the bus or ride in the trunk to the bachelor party. He's overreacting, isn't he?"

"Definitely overreacting," John agreed. "He should probably rethink that. That picture could end up all the way in Japan by tonight, you know."

"Thank you, John," Peter said. "Do you think Aeryn would agree?"
