Today the class was meeting in the Danger Room.

It was not surprising that there wasn't a scrap of red velvet to be seen anywhere. It always wasn't a coincidence that today's class could get most of the students fake killed in nasty ways.

"Welcome to your midterm," Anakin said, pacing across the flight deck of a ship. Behind him, thousands of pricks of lights showed that a space battle had been paused for him to talk. "Today, you will get to be Jedi."

His eyes went flat. "Or try, anyway. Your mission," he said, striding over to a three-dimensional schematic of the ship, "is to rescue the Chancellor of the Republic, who has been kidnapped by a General Grievous, the leader of a Separatist movement. There's also another fearsome warrior aboard, a Lord of the Sith..." he glanced at Qui-Gon, "whose name doesn't matter."

And whose face would be mysteriously blurry when Qui-Gon fought against him. Anakin wasn't about to screw up timelines for a class assignment.

"Regardless. You will be paired up and rescue the Chancellor. Alive, please. Your mission is to fight past the droids, Grievous and the Sith Lord, get back on a different ship and the hell off of this one as quickly as possible."

He waved his hand towards the control panel. The students would now find themselves in brown robes and holding unlit lightsaber hilts. They would work like the real things, but only in the Danger Room.

Their reflexes, regrettably, were what they had come in with.

"Try not to die," Anakin said, then listed off the pairings:

Gavin Darklighter - Prue Halliwell
Edward Elric - Aravis Tarkheena
John Sheppard - Victor Von Doom
Gwynn Hood - Henry Jekyll
Qui-Gon Jinn - Jaina Solo
Rodney McKay - Sokka

Kabuto - Ino

Volcano - Damien Rice

You thought the battle droids were pretty easy (and they were), but that was because the destroyers were in the hallway. And they're blocking your path to the elevator...

After the stupid droids, now they were running towards the elevator and...having to abruptly stop.

"I shouldn't have had such a big breakfast," Gavin said, taking a moment to catch his breath.

"Maybe if you throw up you'll be able to gross out these guys." Prue joked. These robots were a lot bigger than the last ones and she had the feeling that her horrible lightsaber skills weren't going to help much.

Yeah, these guys were pretty badass.

They rolled closer, then fired their weapons and waiting under the convenient glow of shielding.

Either hope that the elevator opens soon, toss 'em around, or chop them in half. Deflecting blaster bolts isn't going to do to anything.

"That might stop one of them," Gavin said, wincing at the stronger firepower. "Or just really piss them off. That thing you just did to the droids, think it'll work here? Could you throw my lightsaber at them so we don't have to get too close?"

"That I can do." she said. She held up her lightsaber with telekinesis and shot it towards the droids.

It caught one of the dsestoyers square in the chest, which exploded in a shower of sparks.

The other droid moved much, much faster towards them.

Good thing the elevator was opening, huh?

"Elevator's opening," Gavin said, giving a thumbs up at her skills. "We got one more. Run past him or use the last lightsaber on him somehow?"

"Let's try to run for it." Prue said, not feeling comfortable with getting rid of their only other weapon.

"I'll go first," Gavin said, raising the lightsaber and making a break for the elevator.

The droid fired, blaster bolts leaving fun little fires on the wall, but it missed the students.

And Gavin slid into the elevator and waited for Prue. "That wasn't so bad."

Mmmm, foreshadowing.

Prue was a little out of breath when she reached Gavin. "Nah. This is easy stuff."

She was attempting sarcasm but was too out of breath to really get it across.

"Never eating a big breakfast again," Gavin mumbled as the elevator took them to their next location (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/1569565.html?thread=96112669#t96112669).

John ran for the elevator only to skid to a stop in front of more freaking droid things. "Victor, I think they want their friend back."

"No," Victor said, switching his saber off and clipping it to his belt. He grabbed the dead droid's blaster arm and pulled the blaster away. Using his droid for cover, he began firing at these new droids.

He was more comfortable with a gun anyway.

These three new droids had shields! Oooh, shiny. They'd been made to be Jedi killers, too.

And they were blocking the way to the elevators.

"Hey, I want a blaster!" John complained as he slashed at one of the new droids with his pink blade only to discover it was shielded.

Victor studied his blaster for a moment. If he jammed the gun and charged it...

Moments later, he was charging the droids, using his droid as a shield again. He dropped the blaster in close proximity and turned to John. "Move unless you want to be blown up."

Having seen the scary bastard screwing with the blaster, John heeded his warning and moved. Quickly.

Victor followed John, still using the droid as a shield. He wasn't taking any chances with robot shrapnel.

And there was a lot of it. Droid parts everywhere.

The elevator doors slid open.

"We're not doing half badly," John said, shutting off his pink sword and boarding the elevator. "That was quick thinking with the blaster." He couldn't believe he was complimenting Victor, and yet.

"It helps that one of us is thinking," Victor said, stepping onto the elevator. He left his droid behind. It had served its purpose.
