"Good to see you all survived the weekend," Aly said with a grin as the students filed into class. "Today, we're going to talk about being a bodyguard. This is probably the most obvious way to protect someone, and the one that comes up most often in popular culture. Movies, tv shows, songs, all depict what's fairly often a pretty boring and routine job. Except that you have to be on alert and more than on alert every moment of the day and ready to spring into action at any second."

She gave a quick ~~handwavy~~ lecture about the basics of bodyguarding. It was fairly obvious from the way she talked that while most of the things she taught she'd dealt with them in her life, but this one she was even more clear about. It was a topic close to her heart.

"So what I'm going to ask you to do over the next week is to try this out. I've paired you up in groups of two, and I'd like you to meet up a few times between now and next class to try out the role of the bodyguard and the responsibilities of both the guard and the person who's being guarded. Check out possible threats, shield your charge from their adoring public, keep in mind that anyone can be a threat at any time. Once you have a feel for it, switch up the roles and let the other person try. You'll be reporting back about what you learned next week, and there'll be an in class exercise that's going to assume you thought about this at least a little bit over the week.

"Okay, here are your pairs on the board. Today, I'd like you to meet up with your partner and talk about when you will meet and different tactics you can use."

Z looked around for Molly, thinking this assignment didn't sound so bad.

Molly sat down next to Z with a big grin. "Hi! This is going to be fun!"

"Sounds like it," Z agreed. "So, how d'you want to do this?"

"Well, do you want to guard first or be guarded?" Molly asked. "I'm good either way."

"So am I. I guess I could be the bodyguard first?" Z suggested. She gestured to her clothes and added, "I've got the snazzy uniform and all."

Molly chuckled. "Okay. Ummm, do you just want to act as bodyguard at cheer practice tomorrow?"

"Sounds like a plan," Z said cheerfully. "We'll already be in the same place, after all."

Molly smiled. "Exactly," she said in agreement. "Do you have anything this week where you'd need a bodyguard?"

Z thought about it. "I don't think so. But we could invent something?"

"Ooooo! Yes! Let's do that!" Molly said. "That sounds like fun."

"Well," Z said slowly as she formed her idea, "bodyguards are supposed to have, like, celebrity charges, right? So how about a 'concert' at Caritas? Of course, that involves people being subjected to my singing."

"Oh, that is perfect!" Molly said.

Z grinned. "I thought so. How's Friday for you?"

"Friday is perfect," Molly said.

"Great. So I'll guard you tomorrow, and then you can guard me Friday."

"Sounds like a plan." Molly nodded and then tilted her head in thought. "I'm going to need to find sunglasses," she muttered.
