Library [10/22]

Sam was in a very good mood when he went to open the library this morning. It might just have something to do with classes being back in session.

Dean pulled out his sandwich, then tossed the bag to Sammy. "Lucky I stopped by then."

"Thanks," Sam said, taking the bag. "So what brings you by?"

"Can't a guy just stop by to make sure his brother isn't, say, off on another hunt he hasn't mentioned?"

Sam rolled his eyes. "You know I'd be here unless I absolutely and totally couldn't be."

"Like I said, just making sure." He took a bite of his sandwich and then asked, "You want to do something this weekend?" through a mouthful of food.

"Am I what this weekend?" Sam asked.

"Busy," Dean said, swallowing and speaking before taking another bite. "Are you busy this weekend?"

"I thought we might, y'know, do something," Dean said casually, with extra casual. "That is, if you'd want to spend some time together?"

Dean was so good at being subtle, Sam thought - except at times like this. "Sounds like fun," he said. "Do you have anything specific in mind?"

"I dunno. Roadtrip maybe? Maybe even find something to hunt -- if you want to."

"Sure," Sam said. It wasn't like he minded spending time with Dean, and Missouri's words about trying to make Dean feel better were still ringing in his head. "We haven't been on a roadtrip in a while."

"Maybe if you're good, I'll even let you drive," Dean said in a fit of generosity. Mostly because Sammy hadn't said he had better things to do.

"So, a roadtrip, huh? Do you have anywhere in mind? Something you'd like to see?"

Dean shrugged. "Always wanted to see the Grand Canyon, but that's kinda a long haul. You probably wouldn't want to do that..."

"I don't think we could make it to the Grand Canyon and back in a weekend. Unless we flew..." Sam teased.

"Dude, it wouldn't be a roadtrip if we flew," Dean pointed out.

"Okay, good point," Sam said. "And I wouldn't have a chance to drive."

"That too. I know the Grand Canyon's probably too far for a weekender," Dean said grudgingly. "Guess we're looking more for a day trip."

"Or a two-day trip," Sam said. "We could leave on Friday and make for a longer weekend."
