Library [10/18]

Bridge arrives bright and early to open the library. Yes, it's the break, but apparently being geeky enough to come to work anyway is a requirement of the job, because here he is.

Bridge spends first period processing a bunch of returns that were stacked on the desk. And occasionally getting distracted and flipping through some of the books.

With no classes this week, that means he's got no notes from this week to go over. So, of course, instead he just reviews *all* his notes from the semester so far.

Still studying away, Bridge is rather absorbed in his Tactics notes.

Chris is kind of bored by being lazy this break, so he heads over to the library to see if Bridge is there.

"Hey, man," he greets his friend. "Reading something interesting?"

Bridge looks up at the sound of Chris's voice, shoving his reading glasses up on top of his head. "Hey, dude!" he grins. "Yeah. Um. Notes for class, actually."

"Cool," Chris grins back. "Is it just me or is a whole week way too long of a break from classes?"

Bridge nods. "I like a break every once and a while, but I also like having something to *do*. I can't just sit around and do nothing for a whole week," he makes a face.

"Me either," Chris agrees. "I guess a lot of people are getting ready for this weekend, but it's not like I have family coming."

"One of my COs is coming," Bridge says with a shrug. "Well, I mean, technically she's not an officer but she's still pretty much the boss of me, so."

"My grandpa couldn't make it," Chris says. "I guess we could have asked Piper to come, but we just saw her at Homecoming, so there didn't really seem to be a point."

"Well, I guess it means you don't need to scramble around and try and explain how weird this place is," Bridge says, *trying* to find a bright side. "I'm sure lots of people are going to be trying to make sure their parents or whoever don't completely freak out."

Chris nods. "Good point. But that doesn't make this week any less boring."

Bridge thinks. "When I'm bored, I usually make something," he admits. "I don't know if that's your cup of tea or not, though."

"Hmm." Chris considers that for a moment. "I guess I could work on potion making."

During lunch, the library's closed except to those who work here.

After lunch, Bridge finishes putting away the rest of the returns pile.

Z bounced up to the desk and demanded, "Entertain me!"

"Gah!" Startled, Bridge falls backwards out of the chair he was sitting in and lands in a heap on the floor.

"Well," Z proclaimed, "it's a start."

"Thanks for the concern, Z," Bridge rolls his eyes.

"Of course, what I meant to say," said Z, "was, 'Oh, Bridge, are you all right after your terrible fall?'"

"I am fine, and thank you for asking," Bridge says, trying to look solemn. The corner of his mouth attempting to twitch up in a smile kind of ruins that though.

"Do you require assistance in regaining your feet?" Z asked politely.

"I do believe I can manage," Bridge says, pretending to brush invisible dust from his uniform pants. "But thank you for the offer."

"Well, then," said Z. "I'm bored."

"That does seem to be a theme this week so far," Bridge admits. "I miss classes."

"Me, too," Z agreed. "Which is not a sentiment I ever thought I would find myself agreeing with."

"Well, we've just got to get through this weekend..." Bridge points out helpfully.

"I cleaned my room," said Z. "D'you think that'll help?"

"Maybe?" Bridge says. "If it's any consolation, at least this year we don't have anything to hide. And since she's been here before, so we don't need to worry about trying to keep her brain from exploding due to Fandom weirdness," hey, it's not much, but if there's a bright side, Bridge is going to find it.

"She's visiting from fifteen years in the future, and she's an alien. If there's any weird here she can't handle, I don't want to know what it is, and we're lucky it hasn't sent some poor kid into gibbering madness yet," Z pointed out. "But, yes, I am so glad you have a freaking badge this year."

"Well the animal transformations is a little random," Bridge points out. "I mean, offhand, the only person I can think of in our reality who ever did that was Kat. Um. Hillard. Not Dr. Manx who is a different Kat altogether."

Z thought about that for a minute. "You think Kat's even her real name? I mean, it's a little bit pat, isn't it?"

Fifth period is spent doing some final tidying up in preparation for closing.

Should be around all day, as it's windstormy so ahahaha SO not going outside, thanks.

Here too but I am, nyaaaaaah!

*promises not to get blown away*

I'm gonna be on and off today, but I had to send Chris to be geeky with Bridge :)
