Library [10.16]

Despite there being no classes, Anemone decided to open the library anyway for those who might need to cram for their midterm exams. 

Arriving a bit early, she set the bag of goodies she had handwavily obtained from JGoB on the counter and went about turning on the lights.  The library is open!

"Here we go." she slowly took a step backwards before holding out the second donut, trying to ease the bird away from the books. She really didn't want to reshelve an entire aisle if he started knocking things over again. "Like jelly? This one has jelly."

Oh Bernard might be in heaven! He flapped his wings which might have connected with several books. Follow the treat, follow the treat, what the crap is jelly? Doesn't matter, follow the treat... Bernard poked his head towards the tasty wonder.

To her credit, Anemone didn't flinch as the books hit the floor. At least he wasn't knocking down the shelves. "Here we go," she cooed, breaking off half the donut and holding it out to him. "We'll try half first, yeah? 'Cause I don't know if birdies like jelly. I like jelly, but I'm not a birdie."

I'm not a birdie! Gobble. I can't fly even! I get made fun of! Bernard poked his head at her for the rest of the treat and flapped his wings some more in a show-off attempt to declare his great size and masculinity, and to prove that he doesn't need to fly. Look at me, you small person, aren't I beautiful?

That was pushing it. He knew.

"You're a rather proud fellow, aren't you?" Anemone knew preening when she saw it, especially from a boy. "Of course, if I had lovely large feathers like that, I'd be happy too."

She took another step back, dangling another donut at him. "Come on, why don't we go sit in the lobby, and you can dance around and show me how pretty you are without getting me in trouble with Ms. Next for having books everywhere."

Okay, whatever lady, just give me the treat because it's very good and I'm starving and lost and I am a manly bird. Bernard bobbed his head up and down and followed her feeling just the thing. She thought he had lovely feathers. He flapped them again, just cause.

Laughing, she held out the treat for him to take, resisting the temptation to pet him. Random Fandom animal - do not touch! For all she knew, he was a cursed student, and petting it might turn her into a bird.

She wanted a ride. Bernard just knew it. They all wanted a ride. It was inevitable that she would offer him yummy treats for nothing - no, she wanted to hop on and yell and kick him in the sides. He just knew it.

Bernard took the rest of the treat then lowered himself to the ground, blinking up at her with sad go ahead and get on eyes.

"Can I pet you?" Anemone blinked at him, surprised. "Really?"

Moving slowly so that she wouldn't startle him if that wasn't his intention, she sat down next to him, reaching one hand out tentatively to stroke a feather. He just looked so very fluffy!

Oh. This was new to Bernard. No one ever just wanted to pet him! He leaned his head towards her to lay in her lap. And he made a sort of purring sound, yes, it's possible in the world of Fandom!Animals, and closed his eyes, preening under her gentle touch.

Oh! He's soft! And very friendly! Anemone couldn't understand why everyone had been so melodramatic about Fandom insanity. This was perfectly nice.

"You are pretty, aren't you?" she told Bernard as she pet him, completely ignoring the disgruntled sounds Gulliver was making from his hiding place under the circulation desk. "Poor baby, all lost. You can just stay here with me until we figure out how to get you home, okay?"

That sounded really nice, Bernard thought. His belly was almost full, he was being petted which just amazed him, and give him a nice warm place to stick his head and he was good to go.

He figured he could stay here until those dorky cows came home.

He can definately stay until the end of her shift, and Anemone's already busy trying to figure out where she can keep him if no one comes to claim her birdie-friend. Maybe the stables?

Yes, Anemone wants to keep him. Until she figures something out, however, she'll just sit here and keep petting the rather large bird. Anyone who wants books will just have to wait.
