It was early but Harriet was looking bright and alert as she watched the students arrive. She had a cup of tea and a smile that might be just a little unnerving as she waited outside the Dangershop.

The mop on legs didn't move, just looked even more depressed at receiving further proof the entire world hated it.

Suddenly, a badger with the tail of a lizard and a corkscrew for a nose slithered up beside the horse, being chased by a furious looking bird.

That was enough for the mop, and it slunk off, possibly to find a roof to lurk on. The pig snorted defiantly at Annette and followed.

"Hey! Leave that creature alone you mean looking bird!" Annette exclaimed and kicked the sides of Belle. "What kind of forest is this?" She pulled her sword out, ready to slay something. "I need a helmet Belle. One of those kinds that you can only see my eyes. Wouldn't that be cool?" She glanced down at the pig. "What?"

The horse surged forward in response to the kick, and the slithy tove (for so the badger was) rushed to hide behind it, taunting the bird with a wave of its corkscrew nose.

Furious, the bird made a rush at Annette.

"What? No!" The sword went up as she tried to protect herself. "Aaaaa! Bad bird!"

The bird swooped down low over Annette's head, but the sword scared it off and it flew away, screeching.

The slithy tove made a happy hissing noise and stretched up to rub its head against Annette's ankle in gratitude.

"Wow. Omigod that was close, Belle, wasn't it?" She sort of smiled and looked down at the thing that was rubbing her ankle. "Aw, it's okay. No need for senseless acts of violence is there? You sweet thing, you have a good day now, okay? I'm on a mission or I would stay to play with you."

The horse pranced on the spot, looking pleased with itself.

The slithy tove nodded vigorously and trotted off a little ways, looking back at Annette and gesturing with its corkscrew nose for her to follow.

"Oh, you want me to follow? You hear that, Belle? I do believe we are supposed to go this way. Come along then." Annette turned Belle and kicked her, yes, she decided it was a her, lightly in the flanks and sought to follow the nice creature. She giggled and said, "Belle? I feel like a storybook character."

The horse snorted in what might have been agreement and followed the tove.

It led the way deep, deep into the forest, finally stopping under a huge tree. With a little trill, it bobbed its nose and then disappeared into the undergrowth.

On the tree was a sign--

Tum Tum tree -- good for thinking

--and next to the tree was a hitching post, just right for tying a horse to while one went and found the Jabberwocky (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/1561424.html?thread=95558480#t95558480). After lunch, of course.

"Hmm," Annette mumbled and dismounted, hitching Belle to the post. "I'm going on alone now, Belle. You've been so wonderful. Say a wish for me... Oh, but I've got to eat first, you know. I'm starving!"
