Study Hall [Wednesday]

Aly might have moved her desk to the corner of the room with the best sight lines.

No reason.

There were donuts but the coffee was long gone. Possibly because Aly drank it all.

"I wonder what an emo duck's quack sounds like," John mused.

"Would an emo duck even see the point in quacking at all," Aly pointed out.

"That's a good point," John chuckled. "Aren't teachers supposed to be humorless?"

She burst out laughing. "Isn't hair supposed to lie flat?"

He peered at her, twinkle in his eye, "You mean like yours?"

Aly grinned. "If it stood on end, I'd look like a dandelion."

"My hair does not stand on end," John ~~pouted~~ argued.

She raised an eyebrow. "Could find you a mirror..."

"Maybe it's messy..." John scrubbed a hand through his hair. "But it's not like a cartoon character or anything." Actually, it was.

"It's not like a hedgehog or anything...much," Aly told him, laughing.

"Hey, at least my hair has some life to it," John sniffed.

"Life or too many hair products?" she asked.

Oh now that was uncalled for!

"I do not use hair products!" he lied.

"...not even a little?"

"Well, of course I use shampoo," he covered.

Aly smirked. "Uh huh. Maybe it's just naturally weird."

John frowned. "What is it you teach? I'm guessing it's not beauty."

"Explosions," Aly said with a smirk. "And spying."

"Ah, that explains it," he nodded.

Aly raised an eyebrow.

John was referring to the split ends and flyaways, probably caused by being too close to explosions and being restrained under masks. He didn't say this of course, as that would be rude. "Oh, nothing."

Aly narrowed her eyes at him. "Keep talking, hedgehog."

John smiled at the Spy with Flat Hair. "I was just thinking how the explosions and the sulfur have impacted your hair over time. It's looking pretty good, considering."

"It's so sad to see you trying to lash out in pain over your own dust mop," Aly said. "I wouldn't have mentioned it if I knew it was such a sore spot."

"Trust me that I have no soul pain over my hair," John informed the Spy with Flat Hair. He would've flipped his hair if he could've.
