*Zero arrives at the library at 6:30 sharp, armed with a backpack full of scientific collection equipment, a notebook, and the croquet mallet. She sets up camp at one of the large tables and waits for the others to start filtering in.*

"Lead on MacDuff." Marty says with a grin. Marty then thinks of something.

"Hey, is this going to be on School grounds? or is it considered off campus? The last time I ran into a moving tree I got beaten up a bit. If not, where do I get a croquet mallet?"

We're stickin' to school grounds for now, I think. I dunno...what do you guys want to do? Oh, an' my sister sent me this one.

This place is so weird. I wouldn't mind getting some soil and water samples to analyze to see if they have any insanity-causing unusual properties because I swear, I was relatively sane before I started at this place. Maybe something in the soil is animating the tree?

Hmm. That could have something to do with the zombies, too, actually.

It would not surprise me to find out this place is smack on top of a squallin' chemical waste site.

My personal theory on the zombies is that they were caused by a retrovirus which feeds on neural tissue. But the same retrovirus could be acting on the tree in a different way, which would be absolutely fascinating from a-- *pause* I'm boring you, aren't I?

No, wouldn't surprise me either. Probably an interdimensional chemical waste site too, which would make it even worse.

*makes notes in her book* Me? No. It's swerval. Them? *glances around table at the glazed expressions* Maybe. It'd be a total breakthrough to find a retrovirus that acts on human and plant cells like that.

*laughs a little sheepishly* Oh, good. I get too used to making everyone have that glazed-over look. And wouldn't it be the most fascinating thing? Though I can't imagine how it would be able to affect both animals and plants without having DNA from both kingdoms as part of its genetic makeup.

So that's definitely somethin' to keep in mind. But I think Cam might be hopin' for a little more, erm, action tonight.
