Coffeeeeeee...beautiful coffee. Anemone was gulping down the caffeine like a lifeline as she checked in books.

She's off in the stacks, trying to reshelve books and cursing the Dewey Decimal System.

She's going over her various class notes, trying to get all her homework done prior to the weekend.

Anemone's opened up her bento box, and the library is now closed unless you happen to work there.

A bit sleepy after lunch, Anemone is once again trying to master the internet. For a girl from the future, she's not very good with computers.

Robin took a deep breath, and entered the library. He had a swamp lily in one hand.

Anemone looked up at the sound of the door opening, blinking when she didn't see anyone in the doorway. "Huh. Hello?"

"Down here." Robin said, hurrying to the desk so he could hop up on top.

Anemone grinned and leaned over the counter. "Hi there, sweet-Robin! Want a lift, or can you jump it?"

"I can jump it." Robin giggled. "Thanks though." He hopped up onto the desk, and then nervously began to fiddle with the flower.

"Welcome to the Fandom Library!" Anemone gestured grandly to the shelves. "What can I help you find today? Cookbooks? Foreign languages? History?"

"Uh, er, well er, actually I was uhm, wondering if maybe youwantedtogotothedancewithme?" He held the swamp flower out to her.

"Oh," her face fell, and Anemone looked genuinely distressed. "Sweet-Robin, I already have a date for the dance. I'm sorry."

"Oh, oh, right, of, of course you do." Here's where he would have been blushing if frogs could.

Stupid, I should have asked that first! It was even part of what I practiced!

"Buuuuuuutttt..." Anemone hopped up on the counter to sit next to him. "I seem to have a few dances free on my dance card that night. Might you be interested?"

Robin struggled to regain his froggy dignity. "Uh, er, yes, yes I would. Thank you."

Stay calm, you knew this was a possibility.

"It was really sweet of you to ask me, thank you." Anemone made sure she didn't look directly at him, so he'd have time to regain his pride. Boys were boys, be they humans or froggies. "I really appreicate it."

"Uhm, well, er, you're welcome. I uh, I should get going." He hopped off the desk, but left the flower.

Gulliver's wandered in to supervise the circulation desk while Anemone cleans up the collection. He might also be stealing treats from her bento when she's not looking.

Jack had closed down work handwavily early, and was in the library, wondering if they had romance books. Books on romance, not...nevermind.

Gulliver cooed loudly at this new intruder-type-person. Did it have treats? Would it find where Anemone hid his treats, please? If not, it can go find his girl. She's off that way, in the direction his little wibbly nose is pointing.

Jack boggled and walked and walked backwards and what was that thing? He so wasn't watching where he was going.

There was a crash as he ~~permissively moddedly~~ knocked some books off the counter. Anemone stuck her head out from a row of shelving, scowling. "Gulliver! Quit screwing around! Books aren't snacks...oh, hey Jack. Sorry, thought you were Gulliver being naughty."

"No, just looking for romance books and did you know there's a furry thing on the counter?" he jerked his thumb over his shoulder at the Gulliver-shaped thing.

"Yes, that's Gulliver." She tilted her head at the panduppy and frowned. "On the chair, Gulliver, not the counter. You know the rules."

She flipped her attention back to Jack and grinned. "Romance novels, or books about relationships? Because the library has both." She was also pointedly ignoring the disgruntled snuffle-grunt noises coming from the circulation desk as Gulliver abandoned the counter for the tall stool.

"Romance novels?" He ponders that one. He's seen a few. "Books about relationships, I guess. Unless you'd rather just skip the part where you check me out and go to Homecoming with me." For he is the smooth.

Anemone blinked. Twice. "Are you serious?"

"....Yes. And I've been paying attention in class." Yes. That class.

Right now, Anemone is seriously considering asking Miss Lulu to add 'tact when picking up a partner' to the syllabus for That Class. "Um, Jack? Didn't you get weirded out at me at River's party? When I said I had two boyfriends? Or was that your evil mirror twin?"

"I have an evil twin?" Yes, this is the part he picks up on. "Does he have a goatee?" He checks his chin. "Can't be me," he said with a grin. "No goatee."

"Right. You aren't your own evil twin. Got it." If she was near the circulation desk right now, her head would be beating itself against it. "Sorry, Jack, but I already have a date."

"That makes the third, then," he said. "So. Books on romance and asking someone to prom who's not panicking, mad at me, or doesn't have a date?" He rubbed the back of his ~~mullett~~ head.

She grabbed some scratch paper out of her pocket and started jotting down numbers. "Um, I think 175 & 176 are the sections on Ethics in Leisure and Sex. Try there. Or the early 300s for books about sex and relationships. If you don't see anything you like, come back to the desk and ask me. I'll check the card catalog."

"As for the date..." she tapped her pencil thoughtfully. "I don't know if I should be flattered you asked, or insulted that I came in third. Um, I just turned down Robin about an hour ago. You could ask him."

"There's a dude named Robin?" He blinked.

"You're third because you're third. At least I didn't make you mad at me or cause a panic attack like the first two." ANd then he mumbled something about her embarrassing her in class.

"Uh-huh, and he's absolutely adorable." She grinned at Jack. "Why would I be mad? Don't be silly. You need to speak up, I didn't catch that last part."

"Why would I ask a boy to Homecoming? I'd go stag first." He kinda smiled. Okay, more like a facial twitch.

"You embarrassed me in Sex Ed!"

"I did?" she looked at him, puzzled. "How? There isn't anything embarrassing about asking Miss Lulu a question." Notice how she's not apologizing.

"You made me look like an idiot!" he repeated. His ears were turning a bit red.

"What are you talking about?" Anemone shook her head at him. "Miss Lulu didn't think we were silly. She said it was a normal mistake to make. I'm not embarrassed that I believed you, why are you making a big deal out of it?"

"I dunno! I just am!" he said. "And that Miss Lulu's got..." he made clenchy hands that were really fists and not-fists, which toooootally didn't look like he was making a 'grabby boobs' gesture "...funny ideas."

They totally did look like the grabby gesture. "Funny how? I don't get it."

"About sex! People don't just talk about sex like that!"

"I thought boys talked about sex all the time, especially in a group of guys. Girls do. Well, the girls at home at least. Put more than three in a group, and it will eventually come up. If there's lots of us and plenty of alcohol, it gets kinda dirty really fast. Boys here don't do that?" she asked, genuinely curious. "Huh."

"Boys talk about sex all the time, but not to girls! And not with girls. It's private," he insisted.

And then he paid attention to what she said. "Girls talk about sex?" he asked.

"At home, we talk about boys. Talking about boys can eventually end up with sex tossed in, depending on the girls in the group. And the older girls aren't very shy about giving advice. That's my experience at least, but all my friends at home are either military, ex-military, or retired terrorists. We might not represent the norm."

"Sex isn't private. Private sex is masturbation. If you're sleeping with a girl, you should at least talk to her about it. It's only polite." Anemone resumed her tidying, picking up wayward books. "Trust me on that."

"So I should talk to girls about that?" he said. He might have omitted that part about being in a relationship first. "Cuz girls area already talking about it?"

"Well, you shouldn't just talk to random girls about sex, that might be rude. But there's no reason not to talk to a girl about it if you're already sleeping with her, and there's no reason to be embarrassed about asking questions in class, especially of Miss Lulu, since we all signed that paper."

Anemone repressed the urge to sigh, trying to figure out how Jack's brain processed things was exhausting. "Does that help at all?"

"Yes?" No. "I'll make sure to ask every girl I'm sleeping with." When it happened.

Just 'cause. I get to go home and make pie tonight!
