Library [Sunday]

Lee, who still knows who he is, is back behind the desk today. The desk is clear save for a few textbooks and a bottle of water.

There's a pile of books to check in but he's content to just watch them in hopes that they'll check themselves in. Or something.

The library is open.

After handwavily finding out that quite a few people around here had no memories, Rodney, who didn't know he was Rodney, thought research was in order. After a little searching, he found the library and tentatively poked hi head in. "Um, hello? Anybody in here?"

Rodney was pleased that he didn't seem to be the only one off his game today. He made his way over to the person who had spoken. "I was wondering if you could help me find something on mass amnesia? Specifically, what might have caused it and how it can be reversed." Nothing wrong with a little optimism.

Rodney sighed. "I can do quadratic equations in my sleep, but the only reason I know my name is the fact that I found my own passport."

"That's what I said," Rodney nodded. "I can start with the encyclopedia but you can just point me in the direction of the rest. I might be having some memory blockage, but that doesn't make me an idiot," he sneered. Seems like the positive attitude doesn't last very long with him.

"Hmph," Rodney snorted. "If you're going to be like that, I'll just find it all myself." And with that he turned and started to stomp off deeper into the library.

She had wandered, all morning, through the grounds, through the village, through the woods lying behind the school, and through the pages of the books in the room she supposed was her, trying to find a connection with the Adah of the Notebook. She felt she would owe it to her, after all, for the wandering she was doing now.

Which was more wandering than she had anticipated, as she didn't remember where the library was. Finally, she found it, though, opening the door and peeking in tentatively to make sure it was the right spot. There was an Eel at the desk, or, at the least, someone she could presume to be him, so it was close enough. She slipped into the room, closing the door behind her, and walked easily over to the desk to greet him with a small smile. "Hello."

"It was harder than I thought it would be," Adah admitted before she even realized it, and she regretted that it just sort of slipped out of her, gushing out as it wanted to get out past a usual barrier. She quickly amended it, though. "Things are going well; all things considered, I, of course, figured I should come here. To find books on memory loss; the Adah I was seems to have plenty of volumes on scientific subjects, but nothing like that. All viruses and biology and anatomy..."

She frowned slightly, remember some of the strange and sometimes troubling additions to the anatomy ones, but tried to shake it away.

"Only marks left for me by the past Adah," she said quietly. "I've managed to memorize most of her poems; there was even a girl, earlier, who had read one and I knew it from something Adah had written, which was exciting, but, unfortunately, the other girl seems to have the same condition I have...Lots of people do. I find it interesting that you aren't affected."

Smart person. Or else Adah was not as clever as she was feeling she was by coming up with that idea. However, because of that, she decided that, clearly, the other person just shared her certain intelligence.

Her head, however, tilted at the Eel's question. "What doesn't? Why should memory loss hurt? Besides, of course, the occasional pain in the head from all the thinking involved with trying to remember..."

Adah's grin had a little sharp turn in it. "What kind of stupid questions? My world is currently built of jumbled, backwards sentences and a relentless jogger, so I don't imagine they could be any stupider than what I'm asking myself. Who am I? Where am I? What am I, but I'm slowly discovering that philosophers have actually been asking these questions for ages; maybe I am only just awakening..." The smile fell away slightly.

"Worried," she said, as if now just realizing that he had expressed that. "About what? I was feeling like I'm taking it in stride fairly well; I don't...feel like I should need to be worried about..."

In fact, she was feeling slightly like she really didn't want anyone worried about her, but she didn't quite know where that was coming from.

My, my, this here Anakin guy
May be Vader some day later,
Now he's just a small fry.
Left his home and kissed his mommy goodbye
Saying 'Soon I'm gonna be a Jedi.
Soon I'm gonna be a Jedi.'

WHAT? THOSE ARE ABSOLUTELY THE REAL LYRICS!
