There was a tall, military-looking redhead - better known to most as Lieutenant Kerrigan - in a sleek metal suit tapping her foot against the floor of the Danger Shop and looking just this side of incredibly annoyed.

"Listen, children, you're obviously here because you did something incredibly stupid. Today, I am going to show - not tell - you how incredibly dumb that is, and how incredibly dead you are going to be should you do something stupid again. Shut up, don't talk, and get the hell into the sim before I personally decide to nail your butts to the wall."

She pointed at a projector on the wall.

Stupid people brought out the military in her.

He spun around at the noise, slinging the gun over his shoulder as his hands came together automatically.

The Hydralisk went with its first instinct: it spit a needle at him. Stupid Terran.

"What the hell?" Stupid needles.

Edward ducked down, slapping his hands flat against the ground.

Beneath the Hydralisk, a spike of earth shot up at angle to try to throw it back.

The Hydralisk was really wishing it'd gone for that Lurker aspect right now. With a screech, it felt the earth beneath it move and fell back. If it had had human limbs, it would have been flailing.

It landed on its back a little further away, scrambling back up and making a horrible racket while doing so.

"You're going to bring your damn friends, aren't you?" Ed scolded it, transmuting the earth again to turn it into quicksand under the Hydralisk and turned away, starting to move out as he looked for the friends.

'Trapped in the earth' was not something that was altogether unfamilliar to the Hydralisk, but no matter how hard it scrambled, it couldn't get out.

Lucky for it, backup had arrived in the form of three Zerglings (http://starcraft.wikia.com/wiki/Zerglings), who approached Ed rapidly. Very rapidly. And they had very big claws. In fact, the front one was launching itself at Ed already.

"Gah! Shoo! Damn bugs," he muttered, throwing himself out of the way of the first one and, remembering he'd been given a gun, decided to try that to see if it was anything special. He made a face as he settled it on his shoulder, firing with questionable accuracy at the Zerglings.

Lucky for Ed that these guns weren't made for people with any particular sense of accuracy. The attacking Zergling found its hide pierced by several hundred bullets almost simultaneously; it crashed down to the ground, its eyes burning out.

The other two were in range now - they attacked in chorus, as if guided by some far-away entity.

So, the gun worked then. Alchemy was still better.

He clapped his hands together again and slapped the ground, throwing up a wall hopefully fast enough that they'd knock right into it.

SMASH went the sound of two insectoid aliens suffering the wrath of an unexpected wall. They landed on their feet, staring at the wall in puzzlement.

Edward...didn't wait to see what they did next as he started hurrying away from them. Stupid bug snake things.
