There was a tall, military-looking redhead - better known to most as Lieutenant Kerrigan - in a sleek metal suit tapping her foot against the floor of the Danger Shop and looking just this side of incredibly annoyed.

"Listen, children, you're obviously here because you did something incredibly stupid. Today, I am going to show - not tell - you how incredibly dumb that is, and how incredibly dead you are going to be should you do something stupid again. Shut up, don't talk, and get the hell into the sim before I personally decide to nail your butts to the wall."

She pointed at a projector on the wall.

Stupid people brought out the military in her.

"Just simple curiosity, I mean, you ain't telling me you're not interested in seein' real live Zerg? I'm swearin' it was the biggest thing I ever seen," the other marine prattled, "'S not like we're sendin' you out without backup, we'll just leave the gates open 'cause we're supposed to stick to our posts. Like anythin's really gonna happen 'round here."

"Don't listen to him," the sergeant stage-whispered in Ed's direction, "He's resocialized, got less brain-cells knockin' 'round his head than a dead Ultra. There's really nothin' out there but if I don't get it checked out he ain't gonna stop botherin' me."

"Don't be a [microphone feedback], Sarge," the other marine whined.

Edward rolled his eyes. "So you need an alchemist, huh? Fine. Just remember when the shit comes down, this wasn't my idea."

The sergeant gave him a thumbs up, then hollered "OPEN THE [feedback] GATES, FELLAS!" up to one of the control towers.

The gate slid open, revealing a mostly-empty wasteland.

"See ya in five minutes, kid."

"Stop calling me, kid!" Ed shot back, straightening his gloves before heading out the gate.

The marines waved cheerfully after him as he left (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/1527143.html?thread=93642599#t93642599).

"That sure was a fiery kid, sarge," the marine said. "He'll do well out in the corps."

"We sure as hell can do with a few more people who ain't as dumb as you, Pete," the sergeant groused, "Now shut up and keep an eye out."

"I'm keepin', I'm keepin'! Who says I ain't keepin'?"

Neither of them noticed the large army of Zerglings charging into the camp until they were unable to do anything about it.
