"There are," Jean-Paul began his lecture today, "about as many kinds of numbers as you might care to think of. There are real numbers, imaginary numbers, perfect numbers, rational and irrational numbers, positive and negative numbers, and of course, prime numbers." He actually smiled at the class then. "Are you confused yet?"

"Today, I would like everyone to pair up, except we have an odd number of students on the roster--ah, that's another type of numbers, odd and even ones--so there will have to be one group of three if everyone is present. One of you will supply a number, and the other will figure out which categories it belongs in. I have provided information sheets to help you if you are unsure. Or you may simply figure out whether numbers are prime or not, either game is acceptable to me."

"No," Jude sighed honestly, but straightened up and reached for his papers. He looked up at Ronan and abruptly blushed, remembering the last time he had seen him.

Ronan noticed the blush, but didn't comment, instead trying to decide on a number. "Um. Do you want to just go with prime/not-prime?"

"Sure," Jude replied, sounding a little relieved.

Jude's brow furrowed as he thought, finally offering tentatively, ". . . prime?"

"Um . . . twenty-seven," he threw out without thinking.

"Prime?" Jude hazarded. Math was not his thing.

"Yup." Ronan grinned. Math might possibly be a little bit his thing. "You're doing great."

"Thanks," Jude said with just a touch of dryness invading his mellow. He tried to think of any prime numbers he knew, and had a feeling that Jen would be able to recite them up to, like, a hundred (which totally wasn't prime, he knew that much). "Fifty . . . seven?"
