"Or, end up on his ship, I guess," Mac said thoughtfully.

"... What's it like out there?" she asked curiously. Cally had always been a bit vague, probably so as not to worry her.

"In space or on Caprica?" Lee asked.

[identity profile] imac-kenzie.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"I hear Caprica's, kind of, like earth." Mac shrugged, "So, I think I can imagine that. Never been into space, though."

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's a good comparison," Lee decided after some thought. "A few differences but nothing glaring. Space is huge though. It's so big and encompassing. Full of stars. Caprican space is quiet, for the most part. It's just...it's huge and it seems like it's neverending."

[identity profile] imac-kenzie.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Mac thought about that for a moment, twirling a piece of lettuice around her fork. "Sounds kind of lonely out there," she said eventually. "Pretty, I'd imagine. But, so quiet."

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah," Lee admitted, leaning back in his chair. "It can be. Depends on if you bring a friend along, I guess."

[identity profile] imac-kenzie.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"I guess, if you're out there, you've probably got lots of other people in the same situation at least." Mac nibbled at her salad.

"Must be interesting... getting to do that kind of travel."

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"I haven't really," he admitted. "I want to but I haven't. It takes you away from your family though." He had experience with that one. "Which isn't always good."

[identity profile] imac-kenzie.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"Didn't coming here take you away from your family?" Mac said carefully. "I mean, it's a pretty long way for you..."

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"Good point," he said ruefully. "Guess I can't really talk then."

[identity profile] imac-kenzie.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"I... can't really either," Mac admitted, poking at her seled again. "I picked this school, partly because it was about as far from my family as I could get."

"Another planet wasn't really an option for me," she added.

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're still here," he said and twirled his fork idly. "Must be something good here."

[identity profile] imac-kenzie.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Mac shrugged. "It's a good place. Good people."

"Okay, a lack of freaky invasions would be nice..." she admitted. "But other than that."

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"I've heard the stories," he laughed. "I'm sure they pale in comparison the real thing."

[identity profile] imac-kenzie.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"People like to freak you out in the first couple of weeks," Mac said with a slight nod. "First day here, people kept telling me there was people in the food." Yeah, cause that's the one to tell him when he's sat in the cafeteria.

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"Really?"

He dropped his fork with a clang.

"Huh."

[identity profile] imac-kenzie.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"I think they were making it up to freak me out, and I think it was a previous you that told me that, anyway" Mac added quickly.

"And, you should be safe with salad."

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, good," Lee said, eying the salad still and making a mental note to punch the previous him. "I think I'm full for today anyway."

[identity profile] imac-kenzie.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Mac sent him a sheepish smile. "There's a locker that spits legwarmers," she blurted, an attempt at distraction.

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
He laughed, nearly caught off guard by the change of subject. "All the time?"

[identity profile] imac-kenzie.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Mac grinned. Well, that obviously worked. "It's only done it the once when I've seen it," she said. "I tend to keep my distance. It's also known for sucking people into alternate dimensions."

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well." This school would never not be surprising. "Which locker?"

[identity profile] imac-kenzie.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"237," Mac told him, spearing a tomato with her fork. "You might want to walk a wide path around it."

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, no need to worry about me getting close to it," he said, making a note in his head.

[identity profile] imac-kenzie.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"Good good," Mac said, before eating her tomato.

"Would hate to lose you in there or anything."
