Sam headed to the library early to get some of the daily tasks done before the day really started, so he could work on other things as well.

What else was Sam working on, you ask? He was trying to come up with a guide of sorts for the new aides. First part: The Dewey Decimal System: Why You Should Use it Even if You Use a Different System at Home

Thursday arrived shortly after the place opened, bringing coffee and breakfast for herself and Sam, if he was so inclined.

Rose arrived in the library looking for something to read to occupy her time.

"You're back," Thursday said observantly. "How was your Summer?"

"That I am," Rose agreed, "and summer was... fine." She clearly meant to say something else. "Did you spend your holiday here?"

Thursday noticed the hesitation, but said nothing about it. "Yes," she replied. "Not quite time to go home. You missed dinosaurs and a horrid woman who terrorised the entire island while Zoe was on maternity leave. Other than that, it was fairly quiet."

"Dinosaurs?" Rose repeated, "That must've been somethin'! And Zoe had a kid? That's brilliant!"

"Dinosaurs. The genuine article. I'm fairly sure that Zoe and John's little girl is the genuine article as well."

"A little girl!" Rose cooed, "That's so cuuute!"

"She's adorable. So what brings you to the library?"

"Here to squander a book to help me while away the office hours." She said and nodded to Thursday, "And yourself?"

"I'm the librarian now. The position came up and I was apparently suited to the job. I wanted to spend more time with Friday, so I accepted. Are you teaching popular culture again?"

"Oh, good on you," she congratulated and nodded, "Yes, same old position, its good to have something the same after everything, don't ya think?"

Thursday thought that was an odd thing to say, but she nodded. "What twisted lives we lead when Fandom is the eye of the storm."

"I think that's about right," Rose said, she was suddenly very focused on the books behind Thursday. "How's your little sprout, by the way?"

"A handful," she admitted with a small smile. "He's still refusing to speak English, but we're working on it."

Rose smiled, "Those troublesome toddlers."

"Hard to believe he's four this year. Something tells me he'll be keeping me on my toes well into his twenties."

"I'd be surprised if he didn't!" Rose agreed, then shuddered, "Sometimes the thought of havin' a kid as troublesome as I am is enough to make me break into a sweat."

Thursday blanched at that. "I really hope Friday isn't as nearly as troublesome as I was as a teenager. My mother still mutters to herself when someone brings up my teen years."

Rose winced, "Oh, you an' me both. I think there's a saying something about havin' kids and karma."

"I don't know that one, but I think I can get the gist."

"So, any books you'd recommend, oh mighty librarian?"

"A million of them. Are you looking for any genre in particular?"

"Just some light reading, maybe even comedic I'd maybe even be open to anything cheesy."

Thursday jotted down some book titles, including Transient's Handbook to the Universe by Douglas Adams and Catch-22. "These should get you started."

Then came The Top 10 Reasons to Try to Discourage People From Going Into Special Collections.

The library was closed while Sam was in Religion class, unless someone else was around.

The library was closed for lunch, to everyone except Thursday and the aides.

Getting back to work, Sam started on How to Access The Sims, and Why Setting Computerized People on Fire is Therapeutic.

Sam tried to finish Ways to Stay on the Librarian's Good Side before he had to close up for the day.
