Career Choices, Wednesday, 4th period - Week 1

"Good morning, students," Emma greeted them as they entered the Danger Shop. Today it was set up as an ordinary classroom. "I apologize if I seem a bit off today, but I heard some very upsetting news on the radio." IE Jamie was back. She pinched her nose with a gloved hand and sighed. "Oh well. One just have to be strong."

She had dressed up in her White Queen outfit in honour of the day. "Today we shall only introduce ourselves and have a look at the syllabus. Next week you shall begin acting out scenes as though you have a certain profession. It will be challenging, but I'm sure you'll all do well." She smiled. "This is your syllabus," she said, handing out the papers. "And this and this is your homework for next time. Study both as your roles will not be assigned until next week."

"Now, introduce yourselves and tell me which professions you have already tried or thought of."

"River Tam." She paused. "Pilot. Scientist. Dancer. Artist. Mercenary. Dead."

Emma nodded along until River reached the last, then she frowned. "Dead is not a profession, although I believe Death is in many place."

"Perhaps, but it makes the need for a career choice obsolete," River replied quietly.

"That's a bit morbid, dear," Emma said. "Let's make that a very last resort, shall we?"

River was about to say that being a secret weapon for the Alliance was the very last resort, but she didn't. Emma could probably hear it on the other hand.

"I'm Cedric Diggory," he said, "and I'm most likely going to be going into some profession in the wizarding world. Perhaps, an Auror. Or something within the Ministry of Magic."

"What's an Auror, dear?" Emma inquired. "I'm afraid I'm not very familiar with the wizarding world."

"Aurors are elite groups of witches and wizards who battle the Dark Arts," Cedric told her. "Almost like the wizarding world's version of police officers."

"I'm Cassandra," her voice was soft. "I don't have any ideas." That's why she was in the class in the first place.

Emma smiled, catching the thought. "That's right, dear. I hope one of these classes will give you an idea. Perhaps eel juggling will be your calling. One never knows."

There was a small frown on Cassandra's face as she continued, "I want to help people." That part she knew; she had a lot to make up for.

"Perhaps teacher or social worker or nurse might be something for you then?" Emma suggested, leaning over to point them out of Cassandra's syllabus.

If anyone was wondering why Jamie was here when he wasn't supposed to be taking the class...

Well let's just say he missed his old buddy Emma.

"Hi! I'm Jamie Madrox. I'm a Leo but I tend to lean more towards a Virgo personality-wise. I like cozying up at night to a good book, puppy dogs and long walks on the beach."

"I also know all the lyrics to every single Celine Dion song ever written and like to sing them out loud at every opportunity," Jamie continued with a big grin. "Would anyone like to hear me sing?"

"No!" Emma yelped. "Definitely not!" She stared at her roster to make sure Jamie's name hadn't suddenly appeared. "Why are you here? How did you get back?"

Teddy shifted nervously. "Well it was more pushed on me than me actually wanting the job."

"I'm Will Vandom." She tried to think of things to list. "To be honest, I never really thought past high school. Pet store clerk? Guardian?"
