Shop Class Week 1 9/4: Intro

The Danger Shop is set up like the Tool Time set, with a row of audience seats, a desk of handouts, separate workstations, and Tim off-stage wrestling with the remote.

Finally, he got it to work. Sort of. Heidi never had purple hair.

"Does everybody know what time it is?" she called out, holding up a "TOOL TIME" cue card for everyone as Tim ran out.

"Hey, everybody. I'm Tim "The Toolman" Taylor and I will be your shop teacher this semester. I'm on loan from Binford to develop a classroom series in addition to my award winning Tool Time show." He clapped his hands.

"Now, as you'll see by the handouts, we'll be covering some basic home improvement ideas to give you an overview of what to do. Depending on how things work, we may change the schedule and add or delete projects. The midterm is to fix three projects and the final is to have a complete house addition with working bathroom."

"From you guys, I'll need your cooperation and attention. And a teacher's assistant who can perform first aid as I lay bleeding and/or twitching assist me."

"Here is some of the equipment we'll be working with," he said, briefly going over hand tools like hammers and screwdrivers, power hand tools like drills and jigsaws, and the heavy duty stuff like table saws and planers. And then moving on to first aid.

"If you want extra credit there are side projects. If you can come up with an idea for the class, something for your dorm room, we may squeeze it in. But for now, that's all I have until next week."

Oooh, shiny tools that hadn't been covered in paint or bent slightly from various experimental procedures. He inspected the screwdriver, pretended to take into deep consideration the balance of the hammer, contemplated smashing things with the wretch...A.J. liked tools.

Tim should really just be glad A.J. hasn't started making an artistic tribute to handymen everywhere by stacking the tools and calling it "The Leaning Tower of Binford."

Luke looked through the tools carefully but couldn't find a hydrospanner. He'd have to bring one with him.

"Do you a hydrospanner around here, or should I bring my own?" Luke asked brightly.

"Hand tool," Luke said promptly. "It's a really complicated wrench."

Bo fondled a wrench and wondered if he could convince Uncle Jesse to let him have the General back as a project for Shop class.

Luke noticed the new guy with the awesome hair and smiled over at him. "Hi."

Bo returned the smile with a grin of his own, waving the wrench a bit in a salute. "Howdy."

"You're new, right?" Luke said brilliantly. "I would've remembered seeing your hair you before."

Bo gave Tim a kind of 'hello, I'm polite and competent' kind of smile.

Naomi had a quick look over her tools and then started examining them more closely.

Since Naomi had taken Practical Applications last semester and was familiar enough with the tools she didn't have much trouble in identifying which tools were what.

Abigail looked over the hand tools with the closest she ever came to being gleeful.

Peter had to admit, his personal experience with tools came after he had to fix doors that he accidentally ripped off their hinges, and that's about it. Still, he figured his powers would naturally make him better with a hammer and such.

Either that, or he'd get good using a hammer for destroying bad guy armor or something.
