The Danger Shop is set up like the Tool Time set, with a row of audience seats, a desk of handouts, separate workstations, and Tim off-stage wrestling with the remote.

Finally, he got it to work. Sort of. Heidi never had purple hair.

"Does everybody know what time it is?" she called out, holding up a "TOOL TIME" cue card for everyone as Tim ran out.

"Hey, everybody. I'm Tim "The Toolman" Taylor and I will be your shop teacher this semester. I'm on loan from Binford to develop a classroom series in addition to my award winning Tool Time show." He clapped his hands.

"Now, as you'll see by the handouts, we'll be covering some basic home improvement ideas to give you an overview of what to do. Depending on how things work, we may change the schedule and add or delete projects. The midterm is to fix three projects and the final is to have a complete house addition with working bathroom."

"From you guys, I'll need your cooperation and attention. And a teacher's assistant who can ~~perform first aid as I lay bleeding and/or twitching~~ assist me."

"Here is some of the equipment we'll be working with," he said, briefly going over hand tools like hammers and screwdrivers, power hand tools like drills and jigsaws, and the heavy duty stuff like table saws and planers. And then moving on to first aid.

"If you want extra credit there are side projects. If you can come up with an idea for the class, something for your dorm room, we may squeeze it in. But for now, that's all I have until next week."

"Oooooooh that's niice," he said, in his grunting voice. "Three barrel? Do you own one or just a fan?"

"I got one. Beautiful machine, call 'im the General Lee." He shook his head. "Miss him already."

"Augh augh augh!" he grunted. "They wouldn't let you bring it on the island?" he exclaimed.

"My Uncle Jesse said I might get into too much trouble," Bo said regretfully.

"It's a tiny place here. You'd have to leave it off the island. Are you local? Family in the area?"

Bo shook his head. "Hazzard County, down in Georgia."

"So you'd have to park it off in Virginia, and who knows what could happen to it there off-island," he said with a nod.

"Yeah, right," Bo agreed, sounding wistful.

"Maybe you can arrange for visitation?" he said helpfully.

"You don't know my Uncle Jesse."

"How so? He's 'borrowing' it from you while your'e here?"

"I don't see the General until I "clean up my act"," Bo said sheepishly.

"Oooooh,noooooo," he said in a grunt. "That bad? Got a few tickets and points?" he asked with a 'been there done that' grin.

"Somethin' like that." Warnings about running moonshine, property damage, breaking and entering, speeding, reckless driving . . . a lot of reckless driving . . .

Tim knows reckless driving. Ever drag-raced on a lawn tractor?

"I'm sure once things have calmed down, he'll relent a bit and you'll get 'er back. As long as you're doing well in class without getting into trouble," he said with a grin.

"You do the work yourself? Is she stock?"

"I'll try, sir," Bo grinned back. "I do some of the work myself, but my good friend Cooter does the big stuff. Best mechanic in Hazzard County."

"Always good to do your own stuff. That's what makes us men. Men aren't afraid to get dirty, or to get sweaty, or get grease up under our fingernails," he said with a grunt.

"How are you at home repairs?"

"Can fix up just about anything needs fixing around the farm. Roof, windows, doors . . . fixed a big ol' hole in the porch just last week. Uncle Jesse done rocked it thin, we keep sayin'."

"Excellent, excellent," he said. "Should be a fairly easy class then, if you have experience. Tell ya what, if no one else comes out and mentions it at the end of next class, you can be the TA. Doesn't look like anyone's filled out the sheet yet."

It could be the lines in the form asking in detail as to the TA's ability to withstand verbal abuse, practical jokes, and requiring a high level of first aid experience.

Bo grinned. "Well, sure Mr. Taylor! I'd be right pleased to." And that should go a long way to making Uncle Jesse and the Hazzard County Review Board happy, shouldn't it?

"Great! Have a good time in class and ~~don't get caught~~ stay outta trouble," he said, thinking about Bo's car.

"Oh, I will, sir. I sure will."

Tim moved on to the next student, totally not picturing a great piece of rolling Detroit Iron pulling up to Fandom on Parents Day. Or asking for a joyride.
