Art 101, Period 4, Class 1
Steve was glad to finally be in a real classroom in a real school, as there was only so long he could willfully ignore the blown-up school he was supposed to be teaching at. "Good afternoon!" he said cheerfully to his class. "I'm Mr. Rogers, and this is Art 101. In this class we're going to play around with a lot of different art styles, doing some different projects, and maybe we'll have a little bit of a surprise later in the semester. It'll be fun, I promise. You'll be graded, yes, but on effort, not talent, so don't worry about that. If stick figures are the best you can do, great, draw stick figures. This is my TA, Namine," he said, gesturing to her. "So be nice to her.
"Now, today we're just going to get to know each other. I'd like to go around the room, and everyone tell the class your name, any previous experience you have with art classes, and what you think your favorite medium is. And one more interesting thing about you. Okay? Great."

Re: Introduce Yourselves
"What I did know was that the post office here can send out letters with nothing more than names on them. It's quite incredible. I reached someone once that way, and got a reply. So I thought ... I thought perhaps there was a chance. I drew a sketch of a memory I had, of myself and that person, and then I wrote his name on it in big letters and folded it over and mailed it out." She lifted a shoulder uncertainly. "An hour or so later, he appeared at my door. Tired, exhausted, and very confused, but here. And holding that same sketch."

She hesitated - whatever he was thinking of, it wasn't her business, and she didn't want to be nosy - but then continued in a lower voice. "I didn't expect it to do anything, really, but I thought ... that it couldn't hurt to try. I don't suppose it ever hurts to try, in cases like that."
