Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part III

Amazingly enough, this part of the lawn looked pretty clear. For the moment, at least.

Bo had found a tree to lean against, and a bit of grass to chew on. He needed something familiar. This good ol' boy from Hazzard was already starting to find out that this island was one mighty strange place.

Johnny noticed a new guy off leaning on a tree, and decided to wander over and say hello.

"Hey," he said. "You one 'a the new arrivals this term?"

Bo worked the bit of grass over to the other side of his mouth before answering. "Yeah, that's me." He stuck out a hand. "Bo Duke."

Johnny didn't even blink at the grass blade that Bo was chewing on as he shook his hand.

"Johnny Blaze. Nice t'meetcha."

"You too." He ran his hand through his hair after getting it back with a bit of a sigh. "Been here long?"

Johnny shrugged. "Since the middle 'a the summer. Long enough to have seen some weird stuff, but not so long that 'm used to it."

Bo shook his head a little. "Y' mean it gets weirder'n being the wrong year?"

"Well, seein' how dinosaurs invaded for a weekend, I'd say that, yeah, 's weirder."

He tilted his head to the side. "You from a different year than this? When?"

Bo rubbed the side of his nose with an almost pained expression. "1970."

"Huh," Johnny said, clearly impressed by the news. "That's one heckuva time jump. Welcome to the new millennium, I guess. You need any help dealin' with the time shock?"


In some other universe that involved comics instead of movies, Johnny was actually from 1972.

"Gonna need some soon," he admitted. "Hasn't sunk in just yet."

"It'll start t'sink in after awhile. Did for me, anyway." He paused. "Or it'll drive ya crazy. 'Bout the same around here."

He looked at Bo intently. "But stay away from the internet for now. Y'don't need t'find what horrors lurk on that right away."

"Internet?" he said in bewilderment. "That some kind of fishin' thing?"

"Nah, but sure sounds like it. 'S..." He tried to think of a good way to explain it to someone from the past. " 'S a whole bunch of computers all connected to each other, an' you can find anything on there."

He tried to look serious to emphasize the point. "Anything."

"Computers," Bo repeated doubtfully. Computers were a decidedly foreign thing to this good old boy and by his tone, he would rather it stayed that way.
