Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Zoe was very impressed with how well the construction people had done in rebuilding the school, and the grounds had been cleared just in time for the picnic to welcome the new students and teachers. Tables and chairs had been set up, and there was plenty of food and drinks, along with nametags, and two signs, one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and another listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

[WAIT FOR THE OCD PLEASE. OCD IS UP. This is part one of the picnic, for specifically meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. Part two is happening simultaneously here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. *g*]

"I'll confess, I'm not certain what the dean does, exactly," she laughed. "But I rather enjoyed your class. You know, because of that one discussion about inappropriate power figures, Anemone and myself started an underground students' movement against Umbridge? Clandestine meetings and awareness posters. We never accomplished much, but it felt wonderful to try."

"I suspect the Dean does whatever no one else wants to do," Harriet confessed with a small laugh. It faded, and she looked at her seriously. "If I helped in anyway, I'm glad. And no effort is ever wasted, no matter how small. Especially raising awareness. You can't change things if people don't know about them."

Naminé smiled. "I expect you'll do wonderfully at it, whatever your duties entail. And we had a meeting to discuss alternatives and plans, and even if nothing came of it, we felt less ... helpless, I suppose. And had she lasted longer, we might have had time for our plans to come to fruition."

She made a face. "Not that I object to her swift removal."

"Nor do I." Harriet considered her thoughtfully. "I know it's probably not my place to say it, but I'm proud of you, Naminé. For standing up and making a difference. A lot of people in this world don't or won't."

Naminé flushed. "Thank you. I know it didn't do much, but ... at least I wasn't silently complicit. That's a terrible feeling. And perhaps it helped all of us to know that we weren't alone."
