Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Zoe was very impressed with how well the construction people had done in rebuilding the school, and the grounds had been cleared just in time for the picnic to welcome the new students and teachers. Tables and chairs had been set up, and there was plenty of food and drinks, along with nametags, and two signs, one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and another listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

[~~WAIT FOR THE OCD PLEASE.~~ OCD IS UP. This is part one of the picnic, for specifically meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. Part two is happening simultaneously here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. *g*]

Rikku was bouncing her way through the picnic. Newbies! Adorable ones and oooh, new teachers, too! And ...

NO WAY.

"LULU!??" Rikku gasped. She laughed excitedly and then barreled over for what was going to be - unless Lulu dodged - a massive tackleglomp.

Lulu laughed as Rikku barreled into her, gently letting her arms go around her young friend. "Rammu, Rikku. Ed ec fuhtanvim du caa oui ykyeh," she said, the syllables of the still-somewhat-unfamiliar language rolling off her tongue. "E ruba drec ec hud duu ihbmaycyhd y cinbneca."

"You speak Al Bhed?!" Rikku laughed, squeezing again before letting go. "Tuh'd pa cemmo! Ed ech'd ihbmaycyhd yd ymm!!!"

She shook her head in amazement. "What are you doing here? Did you come to visit? Is Pops on the airship? Is everyone okay? Oh! This isn't, like, something bad didn't happen, did it?"

She covered her mouth, laughing again. "I can't believe you're really here!"

"I've been practicing a little," Lulu said, amused at Rikku's enthusiasm. "I thought it might come in handy, as I'll be around you much more frequently. I've come to be a teacher here at the school. So, no, it's nothing bad at home that has brought me, unless you count Wakka continuing to be an idiot, which I do not.

"You're father isn't here," she continued. "I came via portal; it was arranged for me when I accepted the position."

"You're teaching here?" Her jaw dropped. "You're staying? Really? That's ... whoa. Do you mean it? You're not just teasing?"

"I used the portal thing to go to Denmark. But we flew to Toronto. They have planes here that are kinda like Pops' ship but not so rickety." She folded her arms. "And do I need to punch Wakka next time I see him? 'Cause I will."

"Teaching, yes. The new sexual education class. Given what you said, I thought it time for a... change, and the school appears to have agreed with me."

Lulu couldn't help but laugh. "No, no, you don't need to punch Wakka. I can assure you that I am more than capable of dealing with any of his idiocy on my own." She paused. "Although if you wish to, do not let me stand in your way."

"That's you?!" Rikku bounced. "No way! I almost didn't sign up for that 'cause I thought, hey, I've got the letter and all and besides it usually sucks here? But the name sounded like it wouldn't and I thought it couldn't hurt and all" - she scurried past the point quickly, blushing - "and now I'm glad I did, whoa."

She considered. "Maybe I'll just kick his shins for good measure. Is he, uh, are you guys ... ?" She let the words hang, tone sympathetic.

"You're taking my class, then?" Lulu asked. "I had hoped to ask you to be my... teaching assistant; that won't cause any problems with your participation in class, will it?"

She paused before answering Rikku's other question. "We have... gone our separate ways, I suppose. In the end, I find we were not quite so compatible as I might have hoped."

"Really?" Rikku grinned. "Nope! It won't cause any problems at all! I was John Crichton's TA for the class about annoying people. Summer classes were kinda ... different."

She bounced on her toes for a few seconds before giving Lulu a sympathetic sort of frown. "I'm really sorry about that. Was it the whole blitz thing? Or just a, it's not gonna work out, kinda deal? Wow, this isn't any of my business, huh? Are you okay?"

Lulu shook her head, trying to indicate that it was okay. "It is partly the blitz, I suppose -- but with that, the fact that it's all he truly has to talk about. I would wish more in a partner than just a single interest; I would like to be able to discuss more than just blitz."

Rikku folded her arms. "Wow. I get that, I think. You need to have ... I dunno. Not that you have all your interests the same or anything, just ... things you can get about each other. Yeah?"

She fussed with her hair. "Are, uh, Yunie and Tidus ... they're still okay, right?"

"Yes, exactly. I don't believe you and Jude have anything to worry about at all, in that regard."

Lulu stared at Rikku for a moment, shocked. "... Is there any reason they wouldn't be?" she asked. "If death didn't stop them from finding a way back to each other, I cannot think of anything that would break them apart."

Rikku flushed. "Yeah. We, uh, I got to meet his friends, in Toronto? And his family, and it was really ... just incredible, you know?"

She laughed, shaking her head quickly. "No, no, I just ... you know. Hoped there wasn't stuff they weren't telling me or whatever. She sounds so happy. It's ... I almost can't quite believe it, yeah?"

Lulu nodded. "I do understand the feeling of... surreality that surrounds the situation, but be assured that I have no fear they will be together for the rest of their lives and be parents to many, many children when the time is right."

Rikku smiled. "Yeah. I, uh, I told him that, that he was supposed to go and be happy and live a really long live and have like 500 kids or so. Totally willing to be flexible on the 500."

Lulu seemed to seriously consider this for a moment. "I believe," she said, finally, "that they may try to fulfill as much of that request as humanly possible."

Rikku blushed before adding, "They, uh, they're certainly getting the practice in."

Lulu gave Rikku a long-suffering look. "They haven't slowed down since the last time you visited."

Rikku laughed. "I guess they don't need the class, huh?"

"That does appear to be the case."
