Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Zoe was very impressed with how well the construction people had done in rebuilding the school, and the grounds had been cleared just in time for the picnic to welcome the new students and teachers. Tables and chairs had been set up, and there was plenty of food and drinks, along with nametags, and two signs, one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and another listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

[WAIT FOR THE OCD PLEASE. OCD IS UP. This is part one of the picnic, for specifically meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. Part two is happening simultaneously here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. *g*]

"Yes?" Neville said, turning to get a good look at the speaker. He gulped. That was not a friendly sort of face. "Hello?"

"That's what the parchment says," Neville agreed nervously. "Um, this is Trevor, my toad."

"You have a toad? Make sure it stays in its place or it may be used in experiments," Doom said. He was probably joking. Even though he wasn't smiling. And his tone was serious. And the last name von Doom didn't really sound like a jokey kind of name.

Neville meeped and clutched Trevor's cage to his chest. He nodded furiously. Maybe he could bring Trevor to class with him to make sure he remained safe?

"...Are you related to professor Snape?" he asked timidly.

"I have no idea who that is," Victor sneered.

Neville was amazed that there was someone who didn't know who professor Snape was! He stared at Victor.

"Is he a teacher here?" Victor asked.

"I hope not!" Neville yelped and looked around in case professor Snape was closing in on him. "He's the Potions Professor at Hogwarts."

"Your previous school, I assume?" Victor asked. "Potions. That sounds like an atypical class for a high school."

"You don't have Potions at Durmstrang?"

"I've never heard of Durmstrang," Victor said. "I most recently went to school in New York and studied science."

Neville wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not. "Science?" he parroted, feeling stupid.

"The natural laws of the universe. Physics, chemistry... Is any of this getting through?" Victor asked, astonished that Neville was even able to dress himself.

"Magic?" Victor asked. Suddenly the lack of knowledge with science and the potions class started to make sense. "You come from a magical school."

Victor scoffed. "You needed formal training to use magic?"
