Flight and Flying [Thursday, August 23, 3rd period]

Anakin was waiting for the students on the top of the apartment building in town, leaning up against a Lambda-class Imperial shuttle.

"Welcome to the Virgo," he said with a small smile before giving them a quick rundown of the general specifications of the ship. "It's twenty meters long and is generally used to ferry soldiers or cargo back home," he said. "It's also equipped with a hyperdrive--which we will not be using--as well as two forward-facing double laser cannons, two wing-mounted double cannons, and a rear-facing double laser cannon." He met each student's eyes. "Which we will definitely not be using. We're going to do a quick swing around the system here--we won't go out as far as Pluto, but since it's not a planet any longer, I doubt it will be that offended."

He waved a hand towards the ramp. "Come aboard."

Anakin gripped her other arm, too. "Deadpool," he said, "but he's fine," he insisted. "Panicking doesn't do anyone any good."

Rikku's heart dropped into her stomach. Deadpool. She had tried to ... that bitch had ...

She was very, very still, but there was no way Anakin could miss the waves of fury breaking over her.

"And you're gonna tell me I can't kill her," she said tonelessly.

Anakin's eyes narrowed. "I'm absolutely going to tell you that, and I'm going to tie you to a chair if I think there's any chance at all you won't listen to me."

"Right," Rikku said sharply. "She cuts up my little sibling, she threatens my roommate, she tries to kill my mentor, and I say, 'okay, yes, fine' and I sit by the sidelines like a good little girl. And when there's a body, it'll be the same thing, and if it's someone I love, well, that's just going to suck, because I have to sit down and be good and not march into her office with my Godhand and Dark Matter and explain to her in very little words that she doesn't get to fuck with people I care about."

She was shaking now. "I've killed scarier things than her. Nobody thinks I can fight. Just because I'm little doesn't mean I can't."

"Because I said so means that you won't," Anakin said, allowing a flash of anger to show in his eyes. "You go in, you will. get. hurt. Period. And that does no one any good."
