Flight and Flying [Thursday, August 23, 3rd period]

Anakin was waiting for the students on the top of the apartment building in town, leaning up against a Lambda-class Imperial shuttle.

"Welcome to the Virgo," he said with a small smile before giving them a quick rundown of the general specifications of the ship. "It's twenty meters long and is generally used to ferry soldiers or cargo back home," he said. "It's also equipped with a hyperdrive--which we will not be using--as well as two forward-facing double laser cannons, two wing-mounted double cannons, and a rear-facing double laser cannon." He met each student's eyes. "Which we will definitely not be using. We're going to do a quick swing around the system here--we won't go out as far as Pluto, but since it's not a planet any longer, I doubt it will be that offended."

He waved a hand towards the ramp. "Come aboard."

He raised an eyebrow. "But we will be moving forward at some point, right?"

Rikku blushed. "Y-yeah. Just, uh. Just taking a second here."

She nodded, pretending to check something, and then punched it.

She had meant it when she said she wouldn't speed. So she was trying. She just wasn't any good at ... not-speeding.

Anakin's hands hovered by his own steering column, but that was mostly because he was a terrible passenger. "Good," he said quietly. "Watch the monitors more, please. You can't see the asteroids coming up behind you any other way."

"Oh. Right." Rikku looked at the monitors, and tried to figure out how you watched all of them, and also the controls, but the controls stayed in one place and that made it easier. "So those, uh, those are real asteroids, yeah?"

"Yes," Anakin said, moving his hand so that about half of them scooted out of the way of the shuttle.

Rikku blushed. "Thanks. Whoa. This is awesome."

And then, feeling a little more confident - hey, she hadn't wrecked so far, and Professor Skywalker totally had mad asteroid-moving skillz - she kicked the speed up and began zooming around.

The adrenaline rush was awesome.
