Flight and Flying [Thursday, August 23, 3rd period]

Anakin was waiting for the students on the top of the apartment building in town, leaning up against a Lambda-class Imperial shuttle.

"Welcome to the Virgo," he said with a small smile before giving them a quick rundown of the general specifications of the ship. "It's twenty meters long and is generally used to ferry soldiers or cargo back home," he said. "It's also equipped with a hyperdrive--which we will not be using--as well as two forward-facing double laser cannons, two wing-mounted double cannons, and a rear-facing double laser cannon." He met each student's eyes. "Which we will definitely not be using. We're going to do a quick swing around the system here--we won't go out as far as Pluto, but since it's not a planet any longer, I doubt it will be that offended."

He waved a hand towards the ramp. "Come aboard."

Oooh, look, Earth!

Anakin took the shuttle up into space himself. Not that he didn't trust some of the pilots in the group, but he trusted himself more.

"Before we begin taking turns flying the shuttle," he said, turning the shuttle around so that the Earth filled the viewports, "I wanted you to see what where we came from looks like from out here."

Like any inhabitable planet Earth was beautiful from orbit. She'd also seen it recently from the moon, but that didn't mean it wasn't still pretty.

Marco had seen the Earth from space before, but at least this time his life wasn't in immediate danger, so he was enjoying the view, for once without any comments.

It really was a very pretty world, Qui-Gon thought gazing at the planet.

Adam had seen pictures of the Earth, but never like this. "Wow." It was beautiful.

Never in his wildest dreams had Johnny ever imagined that he'd actually get to leave the planet. Going into space was something for astronauts and people in TV shows; no way would a roving lower class hick like him every get the chance to try it. He pressed himself up against the ship's window, and watched in amazement as they really left the ground behind and shot up into space.

He could help but break into a wide grin of amazement when the shuttle turned to give them a good view of the Earth. It really was a beautiful planet.

Sam had to stare at how pretty Earth looked from where they were. It wasn't like he got to see this view all the time.

Rikku shivered. "It's beautiful," she murmured.

She wondered if Spira was this pretty.

It probably wasn't.
