Spying Week 7, Period 1

"Morning everyone," Aly said, looking tired but mainly pissed off by the earlier announcements.  She glanced around the class.  "Here's the thing.  Don't bait her.  Don't taunt her.  Don't draw her attention down to yourself.  If she calls you into her office, don't go.  I'll take responsibility.  Any question?"

After any questions were answered, she continued.  "Okay, we've spent six weeks talking about spying and skills a spy has.  Today I want to talk about what a spy does.  When's spying the right thing to do?  When is it too dangerous?  When is it - or is it ever unethical?  And do any of these answers change depending upon who you're reporting to?"

She smiled.  "I meant what I said at the beginning of class.  If there are any problems let me know.  Other than that, you guys were a pleasure.  Thank you for being in my class and I hope to see you all again future classes or in my office hours."

Faile nodded again. "I was polite and respectful so she had no need to punish me. She mostly asked me questions about where I came from and why I was here."

"Glad to hear it," Aly replied with a nod. She quirked a smile. "We better find you another spying job at some point. To show you they don't all lead to dead ends."

Faile gave Aly a wry grin. "If you think you could trust me with it."

"Oh, I think we could handle it," she said. "We'll find something."

"Thank you, Miss Aly." Faile was much relieved that Aly hadn't been disappointed in her attempt or in her failure to learn anything.

Faile laughed just a little at Aly's reaction. "I apologize. Title's are an important sign of respect where I'm from. I forget that some people here don't like them." She blushed a little in embarrassment.

"It's okay, Faile," Aly said with a smile. "They're important where I come from too, and I don't mind them. Just seem odd in Fandom." She grinned. "Also Miss Aly sounds incredibly silly."

"It takes a while," Aly agreed. "You'll get the hang out it."
