How to Blow Things Up: Week 7, Period 1

Aly was waiting in the Danger Shop for the class to meet though she planned on ending up being outside by the end of the session.  She waited for them, looking more subdued and moving more slowly than she normally would for an explosions class.  Finally once everyone arrived, she began.

"Thank you all for being a great class," she started.  "It's not every day that I'm comfortably letting groups of people - students or not - play with gunpowder or work with C4 or use hand grenades like we've done over this past seven weeks.  It's not been a completely fun seven weeks so thank you even more for staying focused."

"So today we have two projects.  The first is the one I gave you at the beginning of the term which was to design a plan to blow up the school.  If you've handwavily, I assume done so, we have a set up in the Danger Shop where you can place your charges and see how the plan holds up."

"Second thing is we're going to head outside to just in the Preserve and fire off some cannon."  Aly grinned.  "Which, okay, are basically outmoded now and entirely effective as modern weapons for this world, let alone some of the civilisations some of you come from, but they're a lot of fun, they're tricky, and they're temperamental.   So it should be an interesting last exercise."

She went through a quick but detailed lecture on how to load and fire a cannon using a Danger Shop mock-up to demonstrate on.

Once the students had tried out their explosion plans and checked out the simulated cannon, Aly led them outside for practice on the real thing.

"And one last thing to you all," she said seriously after the cannons had been fired many, many times and all the shells used up.  "I've enjoyed having you all in my class." Aly flashed a quick grin at Sokka and Evie if they were there.  "Even those of you who might have been more nervous than others.  I like to hope you learned something and had fun, and I hope to see you in future classes I teach or in my office if you decide to visit."

[OOC:  Thank you for a fun class, guys.  Please, one last time, wait for the OCD is up!]

Luke had learned from some of the most insane most competent explosives guys on Rogue Squadron, and had been on the meetings as they planned out the package that would blow up the Death Star's shielding.

So his multi-tiered package of explosives, complete with backups if the initial detonations didn't light, should've brought the school down without a problem.

And if the detonations seemed centered around a particular principal's office, well, it was hypothetical.

River didn't particularly want to blow up the school, and besides the aliens had done a good job with that already. She modified the replica to resemble the Academy and then proceeded to set up a complex system of combined explosives.

Annette's replica looked more like the very first prep school she attended and she packed it full of explosives, especially a certain wing of the school. A certain room. And maybe two or three specific fake beds with fake barbies in those beds, in that certain room.

Her plan for bringing it down was basically fool proof. One couldn't go wrong with so many explosives.

She would warn the barbies first, she supposed, and just hoped they ran very fast to get out.

Summer thought it was weird to try to blow up the school. She did not have any issues with the destruction of a certain office, though.

Z didn't want to blow up the school.

She had, however, had a crack team of replicates working through the night to build a scale model of Umbridge's office, including all the...improvements made by students and assorted concerned parties. It went boom quite pleasingly.

There was absolutely no ulterior motives as to why he'd placed explosives specifically in the principal's office. Really.

Sokka's school-blowing-up plan involved a 1-ton block of C-4 sculpted into a monkey shape sitting in the boiler room. And a big boom.

Inara's plan was very detailed, but did not deal with any contingencies. So, the school would have exploded, but if anyone didn't get out in time, they went up with it.

Johnny's background and main experience in pyro was in setting things up to entertain an audience. His plan included both more destructive explosives meant to take out the main supports of the building to collapse it in on itself, and a few less destructive explosives that gave off pretty impressive fiery blasts meant to be watched instead of destructive. His plan also included a few fireworks that were meant to be set off as part of a grand finale as the building came down.

It might not have actually worked to destroy the building, but it would be a good show even if it failed.

Luke's eyes had been tracking her all class but not in a creepy stalker-y way because that's a different Skywalker.

After class, he approached quietly. "What happened?" he asked, looking concerned.
